Pentair 011533 WhisperFlo VST Variable Speed Pool Pump, 2.6 THP

I purchased this Pentair 011533 WhisperFlo VST Variable Speed Pool Pump, 2.6 THP to replace the other Pentair I bought 11 years ago. This pump you can tell is solid quality and definitely quieter than my previous Pentair. After familiarizing myself with the operating instructions, I find it easy to operate and can make program changes quickly. It cost a little more than some other similar models I saw but the Pentair I replaced never gave me any problems even though it was always exposed to the elements. It probably would have lasted longer if I had covered it but I didn't. The only problem I have is Pentair now only gave me a 60 day warranty because I installed it myself. If you get a certified installer and installation receipt to submit with your warranty, you get the full warranty. It was not like that before. I'm glad I bought this pump and would recommend it but if thinking of installing it yourself, I suggest you figure out the warranty situation vs savings first.

I needed a new pump as the older pool pump was on its last cycle. The bearing noise was horrible and keeping us up at night. I'm not sure how old that single speed pump was but I don't believe it was maintained well by the former homeowners. We are so happy with the quiet sound and the variable speed options with this model. Honestly I cannot tell if our electric bill has been less but our sleep has definitely improved.

Very easy to install - had one small air leak but after tightening up inflow fitting it disappeared. Unit is so much more quieter than my 2.5 hp Pentair single speed pump. There are 4 ( prime plus 3 operating) separate speed settings and after a couple of days trying different speeds settled on one speed for the entire day. Sometimes simpler is best.

I purchased this product from GSA, but our current pool pump started working again so I sent it back within the return window of time. Initially, they charged me about $20.00 for the return which I knew, however I initially got shorted another $50.00 off the amount. BUT when I wrote them that I had returned it unopened and unused, they gave me a courtesy refund and I got the whole amount back. They made it right in the end. Thank you GSA

Bought this to replace a leaky single-speed pump I have had for more than 20 years. Fit well within the space I had from my previous setup, and it seems to work really well. Great buy!

After only few weeks of use, the controller took on water after a rain (even with the lid closed). There is no drain hole on the motherboard enclosure so the board was damaged by the water and the pump is not functional any more. In addition, even though Pentair say this is an easy connect, you have to know that there is no freeze protection system with this pump. The only way to protect the system against freeze is to buy an expensive cable from Pentair to run the pump with an external control. You also have to add a low voltage relay to your system to control the pump externally during winter. Not simple. Do not buy this pump if your area can be exposed to rain or freeze. Never Pentair again, I had to reinstall my old pump in an emergency as freezing is coming .

The package came with the pump and the Hi-Temp couplers, which was great. Please make note of it in your product description. I ordered the couplers from Amazon separately and am now going to return them. I would have rather not wasted the coupler vendor and Amazon's money by going through the return process. One note: The pump does not come with the liquid tight electrical coupler, so you'll have to pick that up at a hardware store. Only around $3.

Originally I had a Whisperflo one-speed. When it failed after 10 years, I opted for a Superflo VST. It gave me about four years before it gave up. I decided I needed the higher horsepower. so I found the Whisperflo VST after lots of research and searching. It arrived in perfect condition and started up immediately and primed as expected. So satisfying to have taken the risk of ordering online and have had a positive experience. Thank you!
