DK Eyewitness Belgium and Luxembourg (Travel Guide)

The better guide book to Belgium!
This guide put the Rick Steve guide to shame. The informations are not influenced by bias. The maps are usable (unlike the one in the aforementioned guide). Beautiful color photos and graphics instead of cheap black and white. Covers all of Belgium instead of 4 cities. Better organized. The informations are up to date and can be used without use of tourist city maps. Overall better presentation, much better organized, include basic road maps which are very helpful.

Invaluable!
I use DK Eyewitness guides for all my vacations and I love them. Wouldn't dream of going without one. Pair it with a pocket guide to any major city you're planning on including and you're "golden". Oh, and if you're traveling abroad, be polite and practice a few practical words & phrases that can be found near the back of your DK Eyewitness. Such as ... Yes, No, Please, Thank you, Where is the bathroom? What time is it? Reconciliation/cheque please, etc. Your host country will appreciate your effort in attempting the simpler language tasks and you'll be a better traveler for it. BTW Belgium is GREAT! Best abbey beer on the planet. Chocolate so good it's indecent. People are wonderfully laid back. Nature abounds. Cuberdons are the bashiznit, no lie, stock up. Do eat the waffles w/chocolate sauce at La Citadelle restaurant in Dinant. Do fondue somewhere, yummmm.

Very informative, beautiful photos, maps, great book
I’ve always liked the DK Eyewitness books. This one gives you history of both countries, maps and info of everything to see and do in each city, and lists of restaurants, hotels, museums etc. Only negative which applies to ALL their books is that because they’re made of thick paper, they can get heavy to carry around, but this book is more slender than others because these are smaller countries.

the graphics were superb and played a significant role in helping to get a good sense of a site before a visit
As with all DK books I have used, this one proved again the excellence of the travel book series. The information provided by the book allowed for a very informed visit through Belgium a few months ago. The information on points of interest, culture, shopping, especially museums proved very helpful in planing and taking advantage of available time. Also, the graphics were superb and played a significant role in helping to get a good sense of a site before a visit.I highly recommend this book to a prospective traveler to Belgium.

FONT IS WAY TOO SMALL
I just ordered and received this book, DK eyewitness travel Belgium and Luxembourg and the print is so tiny that even with the best lighting and using my glasses, I can not read it.I went to 2 different stores to see if Reading glasses would help with a higher magnification and I still could not read it.Unless you have perfect vision, do not get this.

Our go to books for travel
I purchased a bunch of these for various countries and have never been disappointed. Youngest son recently got stationed to Europe so we sent him one for every country he was interested in visiting.

Easy to use. Hits all of the high points. Great narratives and pictures. Cut away drawings of important buildings. Illustrated street maps. Really useful.

The most detailed and functional book on Luxembourg and Belgium! The seller sent it early and kept me informed throughout the delivery process.

Packaging glue from too small packaging can't be removed
Book ordered from World of Books Ltd was delivered in a too small plastic jacket so that the glue of the outer packet got stuck along the whole side of the book. I used terpetine and propylalcohol but wasn't able to removed the super sticky glue from the package on the book so book arrive in at best 'acceptable' rather than very good state.

Not the best eyewitness guidebook
For once I was disappointed with an eyewitness travel guide. It has the usual information and museum layouts but the maps were on the poor side. The getting around information was particularly poor and certainly needs a major overhaul. I can understand not wishing to print metro maps of Brussels but internet links would be more than helpful. I found the Luxembourg section particularly lacking in detail and on a planned day trip got more information from the Luxembourg tourist office than this guide even hinted at. Luxembourg is a small country ( you can travel throughout for €4 a day per adult on all public transport) unfortunately this neat little tip was not mentioned and why no map of the centre of Luxembourg City? It's so compact! Hard to offer a suggestion for an alternative guide as I found all those i researched to lack detail. Still they are great countries to visit!

Definitely the best Travel Guides on the Market.
I think DK Travel Guides are more comprehensive, informative and detailed than any other Publication I have purchased. I will only ever buy DK now: having discovered their availability online YES, I'm a slow learner!!.
