East to use the kids help make them
I am so glad I made this purchase. My empanadas looks better than me trying to get it closed. Cleaning was so easy! Best value for our family. Easy to use and to store. With the one time use, so far, the quality was top notch.

Easy to use
This made me able to quickly make empandadas. You do need to keep it floured to avoid the dough sticking to the surface. Cleaning was a breeze also.

Really Poor Design! It's Oval.
I was using a 5" press to make hand pies, and thought it would be fun to make "pot pies to go." It seemed the small press wouldn't really be appetite satisfying for a handheld pot pie, so I went with this "Jumbo" press. There are two things you'll want to watch out for, with this. Or just buy a different one:1. This is an oval shape, like an eye. It's not a circle! That makes cutting out the crust a chore, because you can't use anything that's a circle. You have to use the bottom edge. Which brings up the second big problem.2. An empanada press usually will have a "cutting" (dull) edge on the bottom. You can use that to cut out the correct diameter dough, then put it on the top, folding side and you're good to go. This one, being plastic, has the hinge section going all the way down to the table surface! In other words, if you attempt to cut out an oval with the edge on the bottom, any amount of pressure will also press the center hinge into the dough! If you were to press hard enough to actually cut out the dough oval, you'd end up with two, disconnected halves of the empanada. What a horrible idea! But it's cheap enough, I'll just buy a better one. This one can work, as long as you don't put more pressure on it than just to put an light indentation in your dough. Then you'll have to use a knife to actually cut out the oval. Of course you can do that with the top surface just as easily.By the way: For a 1/8" thick dough -- a typical pot pie thickness -- you'll need 120 grams of dough. For a 5" press you'll need 50 grams of dough. I use a tortilla press to get things started, then some guides and a rolling pin to just finish out the final circle. Hope that helps.

My husband and I absolutely love empanadas, but shaping them by hand can be time-consuming. We decided to try out this Plastic Empanada Mold, and we're so glad we did! It has completely transformed our empanada nights. Now, we can prepare and start cooking much faster than before. The mold is easy to use and helps us create perfectly shaped empanadas every time. If you're looking to save time in the kitchen without compromising on taste, I highly recommend this product!
