I bought this to diagnose my 01 Lexus IS300. This does not have it's own power source, so it will not turn on until plugged into the OBD2 port. It loads up quickly, and reads quite quickly also. Fairly detailed explanation of codes, instead of just giving the code number and stopping there. I also used it on a 2016 Kia Soul 2.0. The scanner pulled up stored codes that another scanner didn't pull up (used back to back vs mine). Helped me diagnose the cam sensor pickup failure stored code, vs the crank sensor pickup code that was cleared. For the price, it offers a lot.

Update: wrote customer service via the manufacturer of this device and I don't believe I ever heard ANYTHING back from them. But as I state this I checked a different vehicle as I forgot about it (someone voted this helpful and I was like let me check another vehicle) and it works. So needless to say something is wrong with my gpaws ford ranger. It did work on his truck before but my gpaw is Not so kind and does NOT take care of this vehicle even tho it was a nice truck. Anyhow NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SCANNER IT WAS THE VEHICLE THAT HAS A PROBLEM. AND A BIG ONE AT THAT FOR THE ODB2 DOCK NOT TO WORK AT ALL!As of today (November 13th 2020) it's no longer working and has only been used 5 times for 5 different vehicles. still looks like new and all so IDK what's actually wrong with it...Worked great when it did. But for the price I paid I guess I shuda known it was bound to go out. Will revise my review if it somehow starts working again.Quickly diagnosed my 2003 2.2 ecotec cavy down to the camshaft sensor have one in my hand ready to install it's just cold out and I'm not about the cold. But this is great. Cleared the code as I installed a set of plugs, a new ignition control module, and the ignition coil! Which were showing fault codes when advanced auto scanned the car. Then the check engine came back... hopefully this will fix the issue clearing the code only allowed it to reset for it to come back within 30 miles of driving.

Overall, this scanner worked well for diagnosing the MIL on a 2012 Chevy Equinox. Easy to connect and obtain the error code along with brief description of the issue. A little further help from the Internet revealed how to fix the issue. For a basic scanner, this worked well and was simple to use. Not bad for a sub-$20 tool.On the negative side, there is up/down arrows on the unit to scroll thru the menu options. Unfortunately, the Up arrow doesn't seem to work. While not a huge deal (can just scroll downwards all the time), it is a nuisance and inconvenience which should not be the case with a new unit. For this reason, I will be returning as a defective product.

I was very skeptical about price & if it would even work with my 2006 Chrysler Crossfire, which everyone knows is actually a Mercedes 320SLK. THAT leads to very finicky sensors & readings. I took the Crossfire in for an oil change & to address the check engine light. They returned the car said they couldn't clear the code & it world be $250 diagnostic it. WTF $250 to tell me what's wrong then how much more to fix? NO THANK YOU! THIS gave me a smog reading. Since I put on new fuel pump, fuel filter &replaced the charcoal can. Since theses over zealous Germans love to add sensors on sensors I new the rest of the evac crap was on the front. I wasn't able to $400 for a refurbished BOSHE. I found a cheap, but still had 4+stars, pump for $65 made in China. Super easy to install. Great YouTube video shows you how. All fixed and then started up cleared code with 1 touch then another code asking are you as really sure you want to clear this code hit yes. And gone!Just drove 750miles from Utah to Montana zero check engine light and temp gouge was perfect.So Back To this Reader.It worked so much better then expected. No batteries BTW power comes from your car. Buy a nice Tupperware case for it and it should last a long time?I EASILY GIVE IT 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Dislike: The selection arrows (up-down) only works in down, so basically u have to keep pressing down until the cycle starts over to the 1 position again, the up button is display only, it doesn't work.Likes: Easy to use just keep pushing down it will cycle to #1 soon. Accuracy, I've gone to 2 different shops to get a diagnosis and sure enough the expensive high tech (149. Charge to run the device. bullcrap) gives the same responses. Definitely money well spent. If this device came up missing I would reorder and get this exact same model. I've referred friends to order.

So this is very nice equipment. I needed to find the issues on my son's truck and it does a great job, easy to use and gives you alot of info. Yes it is not a $5000 diagnosing machine but it is the best I found and I do alot of research. So FYI just don't try to clear the codes before arriving at the smog station because they will actually know you just cleared the codes. I am lucky I have been using the same smog guy for years and he helps me alot. He showed me how to do the drive tests and that the codes will actually go away by themselves if you get the vehicle computer the time to make the adjustments. If you want to see codes for fixing this will be a good addition to your toolbox.
