Q: I would like to know how well this ball holds up? My dog tears everything up. Does the material hold up for dog chews?

This is our 2nd one of these. The first we bought around 2004/2005 and it survived an American Bulldog, Olde English Bulldog, Dachshund, Pitbull, and an English Setter, but our grandson lost it. I have zero doubts this one will outlast me. Amazingly high quality dog toy. Pro Tip: get a medium Babble Ball and stick it inside this toy. Your dog will love the combo.

Q: would you recommend for 9yr old pitbull

My 6-month old German Shepherd loves these balls. The only reason he chewed thru one was because my son put food in the center. It's great for teething. Even though he now has his adult teeth, he still loves these balls. Great for indoor play. You can kick it and it won't damage furniture. One of his favorite toys.

Q: What is the diameter?

I'd say about 4 1/2 inches. I have a German Shepard that loves it and a staffie that loves it also. Both of them can catch it no problem. It's perfect sized
