Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had no trouble putting the bookshelf together. The pictorial directions are very similar to what you get from IKEA and very clear if you read through before beginning. The pieces DO have to be facing in the correct direction, but that's easily determined by checking to see where the next piece will be attached. I'm a 72 year old woman with arthritis and I put it together in about 20 minutes, including the time I spent searching for a Phillips head screwdriver.I appreciated that all of the pieces were labeled and they included extra hardware. All of the screws were inset, giving it a smooth finish. Also, the included screwdriver had a nice handle, unlike the annoying Allen wrenches that usually come with DIY furniture.The only trouble I had was with the last piece, which had to line up at six points. I fould it easiest to insert the two dowels first, followed by the long bolts, and add the shorter screws last.The wood-tone bookcase I ordered looks very nice, not at all cheap. I bought it to sit next to my favorite chair to hold books and magazines. Loaded up it's still very stable and looks much better than the previous piles of books. Overall an excellent purchase.

I had my husband set it up and he says it was “moderately difficult” to assemble. He’s an engineer so he’s a master assembler. He reports that the directions are just pictures. As you can see, the shelves go this way and that. That said, once together it’s a beautiful bookcase, it lends color (from the book jackets) anywhere you put it. It’s a good size but also easy to tuck away in a smaller space.

This is a lovely product. The wood is beautiful, sturdy, and solid. And the finished product is lovely to look at.The only flaw is that the four nail holes at the top of the back-board do not line up. This means that I am unable to secure the top half of the bookcase. As book are heavy, one good earthquake could undermine this bookcase.But, for now, I am able to make it work.

This book shelf is perfect! Especially if you’re not a huge reader but have a few books laying around. It fits perfect on an end table or dresser! The instructions we a little confusing but other then that it went together easily! Great product especially for the price! Would recommend.

After putting it together it was a little uneven when standing up but overall, very pleased with this purchase.

Everything was fine until the last two steps of assembly. The base board and the backing board(s) had pre-drilled holes that did not line up with the holes in the shelf boards. This made screwing in the screws exceedingly difficult for me, a relatively healthy adult. I could see this being extremely hard or even impossible for an older person or someone who lacks arm and upper body strength. And not everyone has or can afford a drill. Just something to keep in mind. Also, there are sticker labels for each board and those suckers will not come off. I don't want to destroy the wood by using a blade or Goo Gone so I've ordered some of those plastic "blade" scrapers just to get the stickers off.That said, it's as pictured and described otherwise and I'm generally happy with it.

The bookshelf holds itself up will without any need to fasten it to a wall. I stacked it pretty full of books just to test it out and it’s been holding up good.The assembly was a little tricky. I when attaching the back support piece, not all of the holes were lining up for me. All I had to do to fix that was loosen everything that I had tightened and then I was able to adjust the back board to all of the holes without an issue. Then I went back and tightened everything back up.Aside from the little hassle of loosening things and havin to tighten them back up again, it’s great and serves its purpose well.

Just got this shelf along with the lamp (Purchased separately) The lamp was a BREEZE to put together, this shelf? Not so much.Let me preface this by saying I have assembled everything from Hardwood floors, to lego sets and of course Ikea furniture. Point is, I can out stuff together as long as the instructions are clear. With that being said, these are the worst instructions ever.First off the holes do not match what is depicted, this is somewhat easy to work around if you get all the pieces And align them as seen in the photo BUT make sure all of the side holes are facing UP as this is where the back will drill in.No, to segway into the back, once I figured out the above and assembled the back part, I quickly learned that the holes do not align, maybe mine was faulty, but each hole was about 1cm off from being in the right spot, which meant I had to slightly hand drill all the screws in and then MALLET the back down, then repeat until the back was flush on there. Luckily the bottom base was smooth to put on from there.Overall. It was more frustrating than it needed to be. Even with that said I only took a star off, I know what I paid for and ultimately, for the price, it was a good value and nice color and is doing what it's intended for. I think the additional wall safety anchor was a thoughtful touch as well (Incase you plan to put this over your bed or over something fragile underneath)Fix your instructions and your holes and this will be a 5 star success, easily!As a WARNING, do NOT overtighten the screws, you WILL crack the wood and no one wants that!Thank you!
