Fully extended the cable lock is 13 inches long and the lock works very well for securing my helmet to my motorcycle.

Q: Will this fit through the D-ring of my half-helmet?

On my Bilt Modular helmet, the metal connector will not go through the D rings. The cable itself would fit, but the metal tip will not go through. Now on my Harley clam shell it goes through just fine. Just need to have the larger D rings The metal tip is 17.5MM so just check you have that much clearance in your D Ring.

Q: Can this cylindrical lock be picked with a bic pen?

I wouldn't use it for high security--but not sure how easy to pick; i use it over my car mirror so someone can't easily steal my car cover

Q: Does anyone actually use this to lock a bicycle?

Well that would depend on how you are trying to use. Yes it will work to lock a bike, but the inside diameter of the this is 9.2 CM. It will flex to an oval shape, but it won't stretch. So it will largely depend on what all you are trying to get inside this ring, how big the pole, pipe, or rod is that you are attaching the bike to, etc... Hope this helps.
