The magic of HOCL (in depth review)
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been making HOCl as a cleaner now since the height of the pandemic. HOCL generators are not new and there are many on the consumer market that all do the same thing. Electrolyze salt water to turn it into a chlorine type of solution that can destroy bacteria and viruses. This unit is priced a little high for what it does compared to off brand competitors which go for around $20 and are the size of normal spray bottles. But what really is the 5-star feature of this generator is it’s small enough to travel with to the gym or the airport. At first, my unit didn’t turn on when connected to a power bank. I read the instructions and it said to NOT use a charger, outlet or power bank that puts out more than 5 watts of power. The technical specs for this unit states it uses 3 watts to run. Thankfully my battery bank has a low power mode and when I turned it on, the Morton generator lit up, beeped and began electrolyzing the water. Very important: you should not run this unit with the sprayer screwed on as gases are created during the electrolyzing process. Only screw it back on when the process is complete and the bubbles have dissipated!! I am assuming that the other comments here that said their unit isn’t working or shut off either are using chargers or battery banks that output might higher power than 5 watts. To give you an example, a computer’s usb port usually puts out around 2.5 watts. The user manual for this product states you can use it with a computer so my advice for best performance is to use the usb port on your computer or a 5 watt charger/battery pack for best performance. Finally, as someone who has wrestled with making HOCL in the past, you MUST use salt that has no other ingredients. Any salt that has anti-caking ingredients added in and listed in the ingredients list can give you problems and your unit might shut off, as my other more expensive generator from another company also has shut off when using the wrong salt. Finally the chemistry review: the longer water is electrolyzed the more concentrated the chlorine becomes. I ran this unit once and as you can see in the photos attached to this review, it output around 450ppm of chlorine. This is a pretty strong concentration which isn’t bad at all. However you can water it down and it would still be perfectly fine to use as a disinfectant. I aim for around 200ppm personally. The way to use HOCL is to wet an area for a few minutes and then let it either air dry or wipe away with a cloth. If I spray my bathroom down I just drench everything and then let it air dry. I have used HOCL on every surface including fabric without issue. Just be aware that HOCL can bleach some fabric types so it’s best to spot check prior to spraying large areas with it.Time will tell how long this unit functions but as it stands, I am completely satisfied with my purchase and it does exactly what it is advertised to do.

I find this so, so useful!
I find this so, so useful! As a yoga instructor who teaches hot yoga, I have struggled to find something that refreshes my mat and takes away the smell of sweat. This little guy fits right in my bag, and totally makes my mats smell clean. It’s really cool too, because it uses salt and electricity to create the cleaner. All I have to do is charge it and then toss it in my bag and I’m ready to go.

Amazing wish we had known this existed sooner
Takes care of disinfecting counters, door knobs, and hard surfaces. We also use it for cleaning our dishwasher and HE front load washer where it takes care of those funky molds and smells, we use it after steam cleaning in those appliances.Appreciate that it’s non toxic for us & our pets and bc we can make it ourselves we reduce packaging waste.Bought two and have one on each floor of our house. It is small but from experience since we use this for hard surfaces and few other things the size has not been an issue, and if we do run out mid clean it’s easy to make more in minutes. For those saying it beeps and does not run, shake the bottle. Have found if the salt is at the bottom it won’t run so I try to use slight warm water (not hot, just not freezing cold) and shake aggressively before plugging in and it will run fine. If it beeps and turns off just remove from plug and shake/try again. Also if you put too much or the wrong kind of salt it will just beep. If that happens empty/rinse the container and start over.

LOVE IT!!
I love this portable hypochlorous acid machine. I came to buy another one but they’re sold out. I do hope they bring more back. It works very well.

Shoddy, defective, tried two different ones
Please do not waste your money. The first time I bought this product, I had a hard time activating it (per the instructions, there is no "on" switch, you just plug it in after you fill it to the line and put the salt inand it's supposed to light up and start electrolyzing). I tried it in a few different outlets and it kept flashing briefly, then shutting off. I finally got it to start somehow and it worked fine that one time. The next time I tried to use it, however, it wouldn't light up at all.I requested a replacement from amazon, noting it was defective. I am not staring defeated at its replacement as it will not activate at all.I spent time and effort trying to get a replacement and it didn't even work. I also had to buy a charging block because this company is too cheap to give you a complete charger.I don't have a lot of money and thought I was going to save money on cleaning products but instead I wasted what I had set aside for a present to myself.

Stopped working within two months
I love this product and have been using it regularly since I got it less than two months ago. Today it stopped working. I can’t find any product support through Amazon and the Morton Salt website does not even list this as a product of theirs. Very disappointed there is no warranty or customer service available. As much as I love it I won’t spend another $70 for something I can’t expect to work for more than a couple months.

This is a convenient container, but too small, and finicky.
As a lifelong Louisiana resident, I was over the moon to find that Morton had created an innovative way to use their salt AND clean my house with it. This is a VERY small bottle... now, a little goes a long way, but it's still too small to use, even for everyday cleaning tasks. Also, the conversion is finicky... after following the results to exact specifications, it would fail to work, blinking rapidly and then shutting off. I used RO water and after 2 -3 (pour out, refill, add salt) cycles I got it to work, but it still doesn't work reliably. I purchased a usb version of this for $15 and it works EVERY single time to a greater concentration.
