It is quit while walking unless you run against brush or something. But it still don't make a lot of noise

Instructions says “hand wash only” using mild detergent. When I was in the Army infantry, I used a five gallon bucket with about a couple tablespoons of detergent in water with a soft sponge. I wiped it down real good using sponge and soapy water then sprayed it down using a garden hose. Next option is using a bathtub to wash it…either option is good but make sure you rinse it really good and hang dry it in a shaded area. Prolonged sunlight exposure could possibly harden the silicone seal and make it brittle. Third option is to use a front loading washing machine using gentle cycle with cold water. Make sure to use cold water and set the cycle for extra rinse and air dry only. Do not use a top loading washer, it will destroy the poncho and possibly the washing machine itself from cord getting tied up around agitator so only use front loading washer! Fourth option is to simply use a wet sponge to clean it with water only, no soap and hang dry in shade. This works if your poncho isn’t that dirty with cakes of mud dried to it.

Ok, good question.. First- Cinch down the hood until it is closed and use the cord lock to hold it , then wrap the excess strings around the hood base a couple of ties and tuck the tag end under itself.. Now you have a 4'7" x 6' 11"  "tarp" that you can pitch in a number of configurations such as lean-to , modified diamond or if you put a stick with a ROUNDED end in the point of the hood, you can make a teepee type shelter. You can also do this if you tie a string around the point of the hood and hang the poncho form a branch... These are a lot of ways to make one of these into a shelter and U-Tube has videos on just about all of them... I often wonder why someone hasn't made a book showing all of the ways to make a tarp into a shelter. They could call it "Tarp Origami".. hope this answers your question a little at least.
