Fantastic book for those interested in pigmented lusters, luster glazes, etc
Absolutely one of the best books I have found to help me start doing pigmented lusters (also called Islamic luster or Persian luster), which is a complicated technique involving putting silver and copper pigments with ochres or terra cottas mixed with on top of glazed ware, firing in reduction at very low temperatures…you are lucky if you get 1 out of 10 that is good, but that 1 is fantastic! The author presents very easily how to experiment to find the right luster pigments and carriers and the temperatures for reduction for your glazes. It is also great if you are interested in luster glazes, he has many recipes and basics to get you started. There is also a section covering commercial lusters and how to appropriately use them so you get them just right. Highly recommend, if you are interested in pigmented lusters definitely also check out the book Lustre by Alan Caiger Smith.

Lustre through history.
Either when some of us consider luster finishes somewhat overwhelming or do not like them, it is amazing to know how this kind of ceramic and glass finishes and techniques appeared and evolved through history. A huge formula and procedure compendium lets us to enhance our work's beauty by including tiny lustrous details on it, as in ancient blue, white, copper ware from Valencia, Spain.

This book covers a lot of ground that other luster books either leave out, or are too complicated to understand
This is the best lustre book that is out there. Good pictures, and straight forward information. It is all in one place, and doesn't have you searching elsewhere for the information.

Talking In Circles
A very misleading book that does nothing to clarify a very complicated subject. The writer seems to talk in circles with giving only bits of information on the subject.

Lustres
Good quality book, detailing every aspect of lustre ceramics. I have used this book to fire my own set of in-glaze lustres with reasonably good results. Am now embarking on clay paste lustres. Would recommend that this book is used in conjunction with other books on lustre glazes to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the process.

a book on Lustre by master-potter
I am a potter, I am interested in many technics developed by masters of the craft... Lustre is one of the most difficult glazing and firing technics and there are not many books about it. The first master in GB was Alan ceigher Smith, he wrote abpout the histroy of Luster... now we are getting the new book which will inspire new enthusiasts... thank you, ifigenija
