All of my knives are now super sharp thanks to this incredible knife sharpener. Very easy to use and works perfectly. The Ceramic Finishing Rod is superb and now every time I use my Chef's knives I hone the edge simply and perfectly with the Ceramic Rod finishing touch with angled guides. This sharpener is worth the high cost

I don't buy electrical products from overseas for the very reason that they have the wrong plug for Australian power outlets. I expect Amazon Australia to either require overseas sellers to convert their plugs, (ideally) but at the very least, to include an adaptor in the box for Aussies. I don't know whether this product was any good. I wasn't able to try it. I do know that it was very expensive, and after paying that price I wasn't going to go out and buy an adaptor for it. The whole thing went straight back to Amazon.

This is the kitchen knife sharpener you’ll want! This must be the 8th knife sharpening device that I have bought in the last 3 years. I have a great selection of knives, from 40 year old Wusthofs, Rosewood Dexters to a couple of recent Zwilling Kramers. A lifetime of forged, stamped and Damascus steel knives that has supported my culinary career, craft & passion, but darn it's hard to keep them all sharp! The E5 uses a variety of sanding belts to achieve a sharpened edge, which you then finish by honing your knife with the included ceramic rod. The sharpener has solid metal guides, which allows you to keep the angle true while you pull your knife through the belt. The guides are solid metal and snugly fit onto the sharpener. The sharpener comes with a standard 17 degree guide and you can get an upgrade kit that has 15 and 20 degree guides so you can accurately sharpen Western or Asian knives. If you watch any of the knife making videos on YouTube they all sharpen new knives using a belt sander and hone the blade on a ceramic stone. Exactly what this sharpener does. When I bought my first Zwilling Kramer it was so sharp that I actually took off a small tip of my finger (that knife was amazingly sharp), but after a couple of years it just wasn't holding that same edge. A couple of minutes on the E5 and I had that knife as sharp as the day I bought it. I then went after my old Wusthof, a 40-year-old 14" chef's knife that I call the "chest splitter". I'll bet that it's sharper now than the day I bought it. I love this sharpener. The ceramic rod has a little feature that I'm enjoying more and more. It's called a microforge and it adds microscopic grooves to a blade that help keep the knife sharper for longer. I really ignored this feature when I first got the sharpener, but after using it on a couple of knives I'm convinced that it does exactly what they said it would and I'm appreciating it. I’m finding that the knives that I use it keep their edge longer and need to be sharpened less often. As I mentioned at the beginning of this review I've bought at least 7 other sharpening systems in the past three years, most of them here on Amazon. A lot of sharpening rods, clamps and spinning grinder wheels, but none of them came close to the consistent edge that this sharpener gives my knives.. I think this will probably be the last sharpener I’ll ever buy; this thing does an incredible job!
