Yes they are quiet and they work quite well. The only problem that I have noticed with these tips is that they will yellow a bit over time and will not match the pencil, which is a little bit unfortunate.

Not very good they need to much pressure. See the metal tip ones I recently reviewed in my profile they r so much betterr

It doesnt matter they all do the same thing, but some have a softer tip and others may be hard tipped you can tell by touching them , but it doesnt matter which spot they are in.
