There are Not Two Sides to this Issue
Looking at the 1-star reviews makes it obvious that the reviewers never read a word of this book. Spencer is not a shill for big oil, any more than environmental groups are shills for research grants, or for the IPCC's agenda to redistribute incomes. As a former NASA scientist, Spencer repeatedly states that he and all scientists agree that (1) the earth is warming, (2) that man-made CO2 is increasing greenhouse gases, and that (3) this likely adds to the warming. That part is settled. What is not settled is how much permanent warming effect this will have on earth's climate. With over 20 years of predictions now behind us, none of the dire predictions about climate change have occurred. He says computer models are incapable of forecasting climate because of too many unpredictable variables. Spencer gives clear scientific evidence that the earth's natural ability to "move heat from where it is to where it's not" is perfectly capable of handling a one-degree change in temperature over the next 100 years. Refuting his claims is easy. Just cover your ears, stamp your foot and shriek that he is a paid shill and "a denier". There's some scientific debate for ya.

Excellent Book for General Public and those with Science Training to understand both the Science and its Distortion by Politics!
This book is an Outstanding summary of the honest and factual science behind 'Climate Science' as well as the dishonest Politics by the Man-Made Global Warming Alarmists (Dems, Progressives, Environmentalists and Globalists like Al Gore) that have no verifiable scientific basis for their outrageous claims.Perhaps, the leading Climate Scientist & Meteorologist in the World today is Dr. Roy W. Spencer, Principal Research scientist at University of Alabama in Huntsville; Formerly Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA; Award-Winning Co-Developer of the methods for Precise Monitoring of Global Temperatures from Earth-Orbiting Satellites; Currently leading the U.S. Science Team for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer on NASA’s Aqua satellite. Yet, Dr. Spencer is a true scientist that remains open to hear, debate and analyze the case for the Man-Made Climate Change Hypothesis with an open mind. However Dr. Spencer considers all of the available scientific evidence and concludes that the preponderance of empirical evidence on Climate Change is Natural and that Man with his use of Fossil Fuels as well as any global warming is far too insignificant to be the primary forcing agent for Climate Change much less a 'Warming Climate Crisis" as has be fabricated.Dr. Spencer is in the best position to know about Global Temperatures since he is responsible for the most comprehensive and accurate NASA global Satellite Temperature Monitoring system that monitor all over our world daily (i.e., the best and most accurate datasets). Dr. Spencer also i recognizes how little Scientists today actually know about our Climate and its actual causes, except that it is highly-unlikely that Man, Fossil Fuels and Carbon Dioxide are a 'Problem' while CO2 is essential & highly beneficial, instead. Excellent Book for both the General Public and those with Science training to understand both the Science and the distortion of Science by left-wing politicians!

Some hidden gems of insight into the environmental lobby scams.
A good attempt to write an expose of the climate debacle for the non-scientist, but it ends up being a bit short on facts and heavily opinionated. A couple of classic one-liners are a nice touch though. "For many years now, well over $100 million a year has been flowing from the (US) federal government to environmental lobby groups. The federal government routinely funds so-called NGOs that turn right around and lobby the government to support environmental causes that the NGOs depend upon for their survival. Yes, I know this seemingly incestuous relationship would be inconsistent with the high regard you have for politicuans, but trust me, it is true."

Still the Preeminent Primer on the Subject
I highly recommend reading this book for anyone even mildly interested in the topic of climate change, and more importantly whether government involvement in attempting to regulate a “solution” is an advisable concept. When the topic of greenhouse gas regulation comes up in conversation, this is the book I always recommend as a great starting point for understanding the underlying issue (and the far reaching consequences of potential governmental solutions). This book is written in an easy to follow manner meant for the lay person to comprehend. By no means, does that insinuate that this work is not thoroughly researched; it is just an indication that Dr. Spencer does an excellent job of considering his target audience. Dr. Spencer’s credentials speak for themselves, so you can pretty much ignore most of the low reviews attacking him personally. In fact, if several of those reviewers actually read the book, they would realize that he does a pretty thorough job of dismantling their shallow attacks of being some “big oil” hack. This book covers quite a few aspects surrounding the subject of climate change as a whole (from the underlying statistics, to the methodology of modeling, to the unknowns of weather and climate), so it works as a substantive primer on the overall concept. Perhaps one of the most significant items of this particular book is his discussion of the jump from the data we have to the Hollywood doomsday scenarios being predicted, and the lack of true scientific data to support the doomsday hypothesis. The topic of climate change is an extremely rhetorically charged topic, but the concept of greenhouse gas regulation affects everyone. The United States already has already waded into the shallow end of greenhouse gas regulation using the back door with the Tailoring Rule and Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gases (mechanisms that escape the radar of the general populace), but if we are to continue the march toward the deep end of regulation with “Cap & Trade”; we all need to start educating ourselves more fully on the concepts. In short, if you are an inquisitive enough mind to be reading these reviews, you will not be disappointed with this book.

Thorough, no-punches-pulled, discussion on climate change. Easy, enjoyable and informative.
Dr. Roy W. Spencer directs climate research at the University of Alabama, has a Ph.D in Meteorology and was Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA. He is also the US Science Team Leader for NASA Aqua satellite and co-developer of the satellite system for precise global temperature monitoring. So he clearly has extensive experience in the science of Climate Change.Spencer’s Climate Confusion puts the global warming hysteria into its rightful place. He explains the general agreement that climate change is occurring through natural causes with some human effect, but also makes clear that the human impact is overstated and implausible.Spencer cuts through the extremes of denial and alarmist statements, and offers clear common sense to help non-scientific readers reach their own conclusions. He examines the various computer models on which the alarmist claims are based, pointing out their intrinsic weaknesses and similarities which generate predictable and repeatable catastrophic results. And he very clearly explains why carbon dioxide really plays such a minor role in climate change.Climate Confusion does not hold back when it challenges the false morals of many environmental groups and individuals – morals often disguising huge profit and power motives. Spencer’s book is an outstanding revelation of the scientific, religious and political problems with the idea that humans are the main cause of global warming.

Another essential read
An eminent climate scientist presents alternative views and explanations on climate change and global warming. Very thought provoking for those who might well have thought that the IPCC's views were the only ones to believe and act upon. Well written and presented for anyone to follow.

A good book but rather technical
If you're well-versed in the subject, then this book is for you. If you're only just getting interested, this book is rather too technical in places, so can be hard going.

A new religion arises!
This is an excellent book but will only appeal to those (like me) who think that warmism has become a new religion for well meaning middle-class white people. He clearly knows what he is talking about of course.
