My lucky bum is 4
Here is why the Lucky Bums was the right one for us:1) Very solidly built and a great design ... One click and it's on. Done, no argument.2) The handle is worth it's weight in gold. Makes loading the chairlift a breeze (and you can hold on discretely during the ride). After a fall, reach down, grab, lift and the pile of child and skis is instantly untangled and you're back on your way without any fuss.3) The leads are a great length (12'?). Long enough that there is enough slack for the little shredder to enjoy the freedom to ski and build confidence, and (at those more challenging areas in the run) allow you to provide enough drag to keep him on the (inside) edge of his comfort zone. There's also enough room to get out of the way, and not add to the pile up, when a snow snake grabs a ski.4) It has a pouch to tuck the leads into so you can set them free whenever a nice run pops up. You don't have to unhitch / wrap them up / find a home for them / then re-hitch later ... just stuff them in the pouch. The pouch is also just big enough to stick sunscreen, lip balm, and a couple of granola bars into. We call ours a back pack (which has a much cooler ring to it than harness or leash). The big thing is it gets them skiing more, on their own steam (not between your legs), and having fun almost immediately. Within one season, my four year old son went from zero to skiing the blues. We loved ours and will be passing it down.

Absolutely amazing!!!!
We were thrilled with this product. The straps are very soft and great quality. The handle to very durable and easy to grab. The straps fit very nice in the backpack and go in quickly as we got in the lift line. I never once pulled my son down from guiding his speed. By half way into our season he was doing amazing and did not need the straps but we continue to use the harness to help him up if he falls. My 3.5yp is not small and I was able to easily pick him one handed on the hill side in skiis and get him straightened back out. Absolutely worth it. He was ready for bigger hills but with the hills being very busy some days and him not always knowing which way to go this gave us the extra easy of mind. I actually kept him from 2 crashes by slowing him down when I saw someone headed towards him that he wouldn't have seen. If your on the fence get it!!!We will use the harness next year to help him up if needed.

A Must for Teaching 3-4 yr Olds to Ski
We bought this for our 3 yr old daughter and it was a great investment. Made it much easier to have control on the slopes and peace of mind knowing she wouldn't go flying down the mountain without us. Nice handle in the back for picking her up or holding her up in the beginning. I laughed at the "reins" when I first saw them, but oh wow they work! Makes it surprisingly easy to help steer a beginning skier and help them make those first turns. The fit was great and easy to adjust over coats and jackets throughout the season, so it should fit most children with no problem. We had our 6 yr old try it out to see if it would fit, but much older than that and it won't. Best for 3-4 year olds, as by 5 & 6 they have enough control to go up with and Edgey Wedgey on their skis. I would suggest the ski tip bungee (Edgey Wedgey) to go with the harness. You will thank me later.Back pack in the back was a nice addition for holding gloves, small bottle of water, sunscreen or just storing the straps when you aren't using them. Good design and quality all around!

Great product... would recommend
I bought this for my 29lb, 2 year old daughter on our last ski trip. It worked great!!! The pickup handle provides for easy one-armed lift loading and most importantly did not hurt my daughter when I pick her up with it.The steering straps work relatively well... they do the job! Some others have talked about how this thing encourages bad form... all I can say is they are just kids and the most important thing is they are having fun. I'm no ski instructor, but I have skiied my whole life. And when teaching my kids ANY SPORT what I've noticed is that their enjoyment is the most important factor when it comes to their desire to continue the activity and get better. If you are so concerned about perfect form in your future olympic gold medalist 2-7 year olds, maybe this harness isn't for you. They really shouldn't be in a harness for long anyways and when you remove it they will easily adjust to the new skiing requirements. They are kids... they adapt quickly.

Great for kids learning to ski and get on/off lifts!
Not only is the little pack great for learning to ski ages its also great as your LO learns the ins/outs of getting on/off ski lifts. Its always an easy and reliable handle to grab if they panic or can't quite shimmy their butt onto the chair lift. My kids barely know these are on, a great purchase.

A must-have for skiing families with kids learning to ski
This ski trainer has finally allowed our youngest son to ski with us. I only wish we'd bought it when his brothers were young! It gives my son confidence on the slopes so he can ski with the family. When we went skiing last weekend, I saw lots of little kids wearing the same ski trainer, and all the parents I spoke with said that it has been a godsend. My son is 7, and is one of the biggest and oldest kids I saw wearing this--but it still fits him perfectly.I love that the trainer has a little handle I use to hoist my son onto the chair lift, support him getting off the chairlift, and lift him when he falls. I use the straps to control his speed and even steer him. What a fabulous invention. I just wish I could go back in time and use it for my older sons too.
