The twelve point universal joint thin walled socket came in two sizes fourteen mm and sixteen mm sizes which have a magnetic ring to ensure to retain the plug when removing or inserting which gives a good ease of use. Having the set of two gives good value for the price, well made product.

These work as advertised and fit the plugs perfectly. The magnet hold the plugs and pulls them out in one go no problem we'll worth the cost. Only downfall is that they will need a 3/8 extension to reach I to most cylinder heads plug holes if a extension was provided with them them it would be the perfect compliment to the tool.

If like me, you are needing to work on your spark plugs, in a R56 Mini Cooper S, then you will definitely be needing this! The R56 Mini Cooper S engine block features deep recessed 14mm spark plugs, which have a 12 point star shaped retaining nut. So a regular spark plug socket will simply not fit! With this item, you actually receive X2 spark plug sockets, X1 is the 14mm size you need and X1 is 16mm, both are of the thin wall design, basically just means they will fit down inside the engine block on your R56 Mini Cooper S. You will need an extension bar to your ratchet to be able to reach the plugs. Both of these sockets are magnetic, so will keep hold of the spark plug, both during removal and refitting. Don't forget, it is really important NOT to overtighten each spark plug when fitting the new ones! You should use the correct torque setting, which is 23, if you don't already own a torque wrench and will be doing this job yourself, they aren't too expensive and are simple enough to use, just be sure to buy one that covers the required setting of 23. I always apply a little anti seize compound around each thread of the spark plugs before fitting. Given the price here and that you get X2, this is great value for money.
