Got this for my cat years ago and worked great but gave it away. Got another one because my dogs were jumping up on our couch and it stopped them. Easy to move and put back.

This is a very simple and effective solution. Just set it down, and the cats stay away. One of our cats had a horrible habit of scratching on the front door in the middle of the night. We use Soft Paws, so she did't do any damage to the door or the paint, but the sound was loud enough to wake us up. We were so desperate that we started putting chairs in front of the door before going to bed. Eventually, we realized we needed to drape a blanket across the back of the chairs so that she couldn't scrtatch from underneath. Then we started putting pillows in the seats so she couldn't reach above the chair backs. The point of all this, in case you're wondering, is that this cat was very persistant. Then a veterinarian friend told us about the X-Mat. Now instead of creating an elaborate blocade in front of the doors each night, we just put two X-Mats down side by side. They span the width of the door, and our cat stays away. We've been sleeping through the night ever since. If we have one complaint, it's that the X-Mat sticks up too high to stay in place when we open the door. But moving the mats each night is a lot easier than any other solution we've found.

These mats are helpful, though my dog can push them out of the way (on tile) when she gets too excited. Two suggestions, 1) make them so they can attach to each other, 2) make them so you can secure them to something so they don't slide around.

Mats work very well

My friend had these on her sofa and I had NO idea what they were. Brilliant! When she explained they keep her large dog off her sofa. So I purchased several to put on the back cushions so my small dogs will stop sleeping on them and they worked! Yes he just went to a spot where there wasn’t a spike mat so I had to come back and buy more. They are not cheap but since they work for me I can justify the cost. Plus you can easily remove them if you have people coming over. Give them a try and pray your dog or cat doesn’t find them comfortable!

LOVE THESE! Trained my cats to not jump on sofa. It only took a short while as cats are really intelligent LOL! Received mats well packaged and there was no damage to them. They fold in half and can be used on chairs as advertised. Prongs are on 1 side of mat and they are not sharp. Prongs do not injure animals as they only jump on them once. Mats are easy to transport to other furniture and the cream color is attractive on most furniture. Company or homeowner can very easily moves mats to the side of a sofa or chair while people sit on them. On regular sofa, I use 3 mats. I fold inhalf and have used on chairs although they extend a bit beyond the seat of the living room chair, but I only had them there for 3 days as cats learned quickly :) These mats are well worth the money!

Realistically, this product seems like it can and should work, so I tried to reflect that in the majority of the rating. I used it to place atop my bird cage so he'd stop tormenting them from above, and while the sizing, fit, and set up worked just fine, it did not discourage my cat at all. Unfortunately, my cat just seemed to see this product as either an insult or some sort of challenge. He slept on it. Maybe the pokes were good for his muscles, hard to tell, but for me, this sadly didn't work and I had to return it. My cat is also a slice of The Void, so maybe that's why. The chaos of a Void Cat can't be contained or stopped.

Great item, would highly recommend. I have since ordered more and can’t wait for them to arrive. They may seem pricey but in comparison to having to recover or purchase a new sofa or armchair they are value for money. They really do the job they are suppose to. When not in use they can easily slide under the sofa out of sight.

Love this product! Wish I had bought earlier. Stops my dogs from jumping on top of the couch to look out the window and bark at everything that moves!

Too keep dog away from different areas “ Success”

These do the job very well and have kept the dog off the sofa. He doesn’t even try anymore. You need three for a three seater. The only downside is the price; they’re quite expensive.
