Hoover Genuine Type Q Bag Replacement for UH30010COM Platinum Collection, 9 Pack, AH10179,WHITE

I ordered these bags anyway even though I had concerns. First concern being the other reviewer had said they were thinner and not the same bags as before. And to preface my second concern, I noticed on my reorder product page for the **8-pk** Hoover brand Q bag bundle that I had ordered in 2011 that it had changed sometime since to that of the generic brand, and it also had many recent complaints from customers for what they perceived to be a bait and switch because they said the picture showed Hoover brand when they ordered (the page has since updated the picture to show the generic) and because the previous glowing reviews for that 8 pk bundle were for the actual Hoover brand bags, not the generic. Very bizarre indeed to switch the product to generic and leave the reviews up that were made for when the product offered was the brand-name bags.So my second concern with this **9-pk** bundle was that I might end up with generic bags since the picture here only shows the back of the bags and not the front, and of course doesn't display any kind of packaging that could help me discern either. But since the description says "genuine Hoover" and since the seller for these bags is Amazon, I figured I wasn't taking that big of a gamble ordering these and could easily send them back if they weren't, in fact, "genuine."I received the bags today and they appear to be the Hoover brand and say so on the bag, also "Distributed by Hoover, Inc" and has the Hoover website printed at the bottom of the bag and an 1-800 number to call for questions; as well as being HEPA, etc. What's printed on the bags appears to be the same as before.Unlike the 8-pk bundle I had ordered in 2011, these bags were packaged in Amazons frustration-free packaging (i.e. 9 folded bags, compactly stacked together and wrapped in a plastic bag and placed in a shipping box, rather than being many boxes of the 2-pks Hoover box packaging placed in a shipping box).After reading up on the info for Frustration-free packaging, for an item like vacuum bags, I actually really appreciate that Amazon has taken this step to work with manufacturers to not burden the consumer with excessive packaging. This 9-pack will take up much less space in my home than the previous 8-pk bundle I had ordered, and I'll only have one small shipping box to get rid of, rather than having to deal again with 5 boxes to get rid of (the 4 hoover 2-pk boxes + the large box those were shipped in).The only differences between these bags and previous one's which I noticed are that print on the front of the bags is a faded-looking blue ink, rather than a dark black ink, but what is printed on the bag appears the same.The other difference is that these bags do appear thinner, however, after examining them closely and comparing these to my one bag I have left from my previous order, it seems the layers of the bags are exactly the same, but may just not be as "fluffed" up. So I'm unsure if they're actually thinner, I suspect they may just seem thinner because they were 9 bags very compactly stacked together and probably just flattened out (or remained flat, whichever comes first), as opposed to the bags that had plenty of room to breathe and possibly fluff up (or remain fluffy) in the not-so-compact stack of 2 bags in the roomy Hoover 2-pk boxes.Taking a star off simply for the needless confusing of customers. I should have been able to just reorder the 8-pk bundle I ordered before (lucky for me I noticed the new picture of the generic when I was about to reorder the 8-pk). And I should not have had to expend as much energy as I did to discern whether the vacuum bags are the Hoover brand Q or not, or if they are lower quality or not. The only reason I'm even writing this review is to help other customers who just want to order their vacuum bags with ease but may be as confused as I was and have the same concerns that I did.Anyway, I believe these are the actual Hoover brand Q bags, and probably are the same quality as before, exception being possible lower ink quality on the front of the bags, but I don't care about what ink Hoover uses. If Hoover has changed the Q bags themselves to be lower quality (and I don't know for certain if they did or not), the difference is so barely discernible that I don't plan on worrying myself any further about it. As I said, the layers appear the same, but I suspect they're just flattened due to how they're packaged in Amazon's frustration-free packaging.Hope this helps.

In March, I started buying these vacuum bags because of the HEPA and micron particle size filtration. With N95 masks being scarce, I downloaded the pattern for the Olsen mask (with pocket for a filter), and I began sewing masks for my entire family. I cut filters to fit in the masks and began distributing them. To date I’ve made over 500 masks and cut over 1000 filters. I’m sure these bags would be tremendous for cleaning purposes, but I’m glad they’ve been available to buy and use for my filters.

Each bag is equipped with a self sealing mechanism and installation is simple. However, the filtration quality is poor. i choke and wheeze each time I run the vacuum cleaner and I can smell the dust in the vicinity that I am vacuuming even with fresh bags. This issue only occurs with these bags and all my other bagged vacuum cleaners don't cause respiratory irritation to this extent. My video displays how to replace the bags.

Since I accidentally ended up with a new "black box" of these filters at the same time that I received my order for the bulk pack, AND I still had one of the old ones from one of the 2 black boxes I bought with my vacuum cleaner, I decided to see if I could settle this controversy over quality in my own mind. I happen to have a digital kitchen scale that weighs items to 1/10th of a gram, or roughly 1/300th of an ounce. So, I weighed one of each batch, to see if the apparent difference in thickness was measurable. And it was.The bulk pack bag weighed 91.7 grams. The new black box bag weighed 93.4 grams. The old black box bag weighed 98.9 grams. I was a little surprised the difference wasn't greater, since the old bag feels a lot thicker than the new ones from either source. But, considering that the materials that make up the bags are essentially feather-weight (except the cardboard), I'd have to say there's definitely a significant difference between the old and, especially, the bulk bags. It's not much in grams, and even less in ounces, but that's a difference of roughly 7.5%. But the difference between the bulk pack and the "premium" black box version is less than 2%, so I'm glad I bought the bulk pack.Oddly, the new black box bags have the worst printing quality of the three. All are made in China. I'm giving these 4 stars because they're not quite up to the 5 star standard the old ones set. I just hope they work as well.

I received these bags today. The bags are marked as Genuine Hoover, and I believe they are genuine. However, I did notice that the part number is different from the bags I ordered two years ago. The bags I received today have R1 appended to the part number. The bags I ordered two years ago were R2 (Revision 2). Both R1 and R2 are made in China. I believe the R1 version are the old bags that were upgraded to a thicker R2 version. It appears that someone has a ton of the old thinner bags, and this is what I believe I received today. I'm not sure how they compare as far as effectiveness, but something must have changed to go from an R1 to an R2.

These bags seem to be the real thing at a fraction of the cost of the bags in retail packaging. The bags came in a box labelled "AH10178 Hoover Type Q Bag, 9pk Bulk Bag, 9pcs/Carton and were neatly folded in the box in a plastic bag. I bought these bags form my Hoover Platinum, UH3001COM, and they fit and work with no issues. Highly recommend these bulk bags vs the ones in retail packaging.

This is the second time I've ordered these as replacement bags. They work just as well as the originals and appear to be the same quality. Plus buying them in bulk means I'm not running out of them every other month (have 2 dogs so they can fill up quickly with all the dog hair!). They go on and come off the vacuum easily - and don't seem to release any dust clouds when doing so.
