I'm glad that my wife didn't make me return this pepper grinder, but if she knew the actual cost, I'm sure she would. Having said this, I've grown so tired of my Oxo pepper grinder which never worked the way it was supposed to from the outset (it never dialed down to a fine grind, just medium to large chunks). As a Kenji fan, I was hoping to buy the Unicorn Magnum, but this appears to be as rare as a unicorn. I also looked at the Hexclad and Peugeot models but I figured, if I'm going to spend a lot, might as well get a really good one that might last my lifetime. Is this pepper grinder worth it? Time will tell, but so far it is everything a pepper grinder should be. You can dial the fineness to your heart's desire and as others have said, it cranks out pepper at an incredible rate. The consistency is what matters most to me and this is all that and more. The quality and craftmanship are top-notch, and the heft and quality of the mechanism is obvious when you use it. The quality is also evident by the sheer weight of this device. Should you ever need to defend yourself from an intruder in your kitchen, forget the frying pan. This is the object you should reach for. The most annoying thing I've found is that the cap that covers the bottom (and keeps your counter clean) is very difficult to replace and this may be the newness of the gasket that might change as it wears. Would I buy this again? I hope I don't have to, but I would, as long as it is on sale (as it was when I bought it).

This is the absolute best peppermill for anyone who likes ground pepper. I had a plastic mill that I began to fear was adding microplastic bits into my ground pepper, so researched metal mills. I read at least 20 reviews of this item, really had to think was having safely ground pepper worth that much to me. Decided yes. I LOVE this peppermill!! You can be very precise in setting the coarseness of your flakes. I like really course, and this delivers. I like the base it sits in. I removed the rubber gasket that holds the base onto the mill. I just leave the base on the counter and easily lift the mill up to use. It’s hefty, and takes pressure to turn the top, but I’m a 77 year old female, with arthritis in my hands, and I have no problem. So go ahead, spend all that money, you won’t regret it. 😊

Any home chef would love this! A bit pricey but you can tell it's supremely well made. Sometimes they have sales so you can save $50 or so if you're lucky. An insane amount of different grinding size options for your pepper as well, and makes a great gift!

Exactly as described! Pumps out serious pepper. I love pepper and cook frequently. Previously, I just accepted whatever pepper I could get after my wrist was tired of turning the grinder. This is a serious device that only needs a few cranks to get a nice coating of pepper. You will eat more pepper, good thing pepper does not make you fat or have any side effects like salt. Remember those days when you could barely notice a change in peppercorn level with the clear reservoir in popular pepper grinders? Those days are over! After just a weekend of use, I decided to buy more peppercorns. Does your current grinder leave you wondering if the grind adjustment does anything at all? This will change your mind. I love fresh pepper, but our grinder was very annoying to use. One crank on the pepper cannon is probably worth 10 on those generic cheap grinders.It's a nice little touch having the different colored buttons so you can easily identify what type of pepper you have loaded in. I have only used this pepper cannon for sichuan pepper corns and it works flawlessly. I was a bit worried that the lighter corns wouldn't work as well, but it leaves children screaming and running from all the pepper being fired out at the dinner table.Finally, this is not a toy, it is a tool. It feels like an industrial piece of machinery. If you can appreciate the feel of a nice socket wrench then you are definitely going to appreciate this thing.
