Very good shave oil .
I think the price is a little high for the Deluxe. Its good but not worth 3 times the cost of the regular Shave Secret I can buy at Walmart for $3.67.

Shave Secret Deluxe
I've heard about Shave Secret for several years. I'm glad I finally tried it. The long and short of it? It works. The primary reason I tried Shave Secret was its claim of reduced irritation. It does reduce irritation. That it reduces nicks and cuts. It does. That it produces a smooth shave without razor burn. Yep, it does. Here's the deal. Like any other shaving cream, gel, or oil, you're not going to get the very closest shave with Shave Secret unless you really push down on that razor of yours or shave against the grain, neither of which is a good idea. After all, how impossibly close does a shave have to be? For me, a very close shave has never been as important as avoiding irritation and razor burn. Also, as I've gotten older, I've experienced dry, scaly spots on shaving areas, particularly around the corners of my lips and under my nose. That problem disappeared after just a few shaves using Shave Secret. I'm sure this has to do with the essential oils used in Shave Secret and the elimination of the additives used in the typical aerosol shave cream or gel. Follow the instructions: Prepare your face with warm water (I don't use soap), work 3 to 5 drops of SS into your wet palms (I use 4 or 5 drops), massage SS into your wet beard (I work it into my beard by stroking against the grain), wait a moment or two to allow your beard to absorb SS, and shave as usual making sure to keep the unshaven areas wet and to rinse your razor often. Missed a spot or two on the first pass...or haven't shaved for a couple of days? Not a problem. Just re-moisten your face with warm water and make a second pass. This stuff really works. I turned my brother on to it. He found regular Shave Secret and loves it because he can use it in the shower. I haven't tried regular SS yet, but I'll bet the results and quality are identical to their Deluxe offering. I'm told Deluxe has one or two more expensive essential oils that are not in the regular offering. If you're a regular guy like me, you're probably going to like Shave Secret...Deluxe or otherwise.

Smoothest shave ever!
Secret Shave Deluxe has revolutionized my shaving routine. Better than their original shave oil, I never need aftershave product after using. Perfect size for carry on travel, haven’t nicked my face in years. A smooth and consistent shave every time.

Not sure what is 'deluxe' about this - bring back white cap original formula!
I have used Shave Secret for a decade or more (though with a big gap in usage after their formula change) and thought when I saw this "Deluxe" version maybe we were going to return to the old formula and all its excellence. Unfortunately, no. For those of you who haven't used this before, back in the day, Shave Secret changed their formula in a way that for lack of a better word, diluted it. It went from a wonderfully thick, though not-too-thick to the point of unusable, well scented shave oil to a thinner and bland oil that took it from the only product I'd use to shave with to a 'meh, it's slightly better than an average shaving cream'. For me, the change was associated with the move from a white capped bottle to the black cap. My white capped bottles were awesome. When I bought a black-capped bottle it went downhill. So I moved away from Shave Secret for a little while to shave creams that weren't expanding foams (because with a double-edged safety razor I've always hated that expanding stuff), and never found a product I really liked that made the shave smooth, little bump creation, etc. Saw this new deluxe version and while shocked at the price, thought I'd give it a try - smooth shaves are worth some cash. Don't get me wrong, this is okay. I've alternated my shaves from the 'regular' formula to the 'deluxe' and noticed absolutely no difference in results. The oil is not noticeably thicker, and its smell, while stronger, is not so in a particularly pleasant way. While I will say since returning to Shave Secret my shaves have gotten better, and I'm not going to go back to a shave cream again (both Harry's and Jeremy's just fall horribly short) I'm on the lookout for a better oil for sure. I'll keep using the basic formula until I find something else, because the price differential for 'deluxe' is outrageous and ridiculous to pay for equivalent results. It's just simply unjustified along any metric I can find. Save your money and buy the basic formula. You can find it less expensively priced locally a lot of places, too. There seems to be some premium placed on the per bottle price when bought online that I don't understand. If you're just getting away from expanding foam for your face in an attempt to get a better shave with a straight razor or safety razor (highly recommend over cartridge expense hell) find other oils to experiment with besides this one. There may be something else out there that strikes a better value for performance balance than Shave Secret is at this point. Certainly give the 'standard' formula a try, though, as everyone's face and skin is different. I just don't recommend paying out the extra for essentially what seems to be the same product with the 'deluxe'.
