Works with minimal set-up, big money saver
I was sick of buying the disposable small cans because they're expensive and I feel guilty about the waste involved with the cans. I bought some top name brand refillable cans. And I bought this device because it was simple a good price. There are more fancy devices with gauges and whatnot, but I've been very happy with this device. What I do is fill my large gas tank with gas at the service station, and bring it home. Then I place my large gas tank sideways on the edge of a chair with foam holding it steady. I attached this device, then my refillable small can. I open the large can valve and fill unto the overflow on the small can starts leaking gas (then I know it's full). It fills pretty quickly so be ready. I like to weigh my small can beforehand with a kitchen scale, then afterwards to see how much gas is in there. I think the build quality is good (I'm an engineer), the screw fittings are standard size and don't leak, and I like that it is simple; I've found that pressure gauges often fail on small devices so didn't want to pay extra for that and end up being disappointed in the future. I'm saving tons of money using this device, it paid for itself after a few fills and no more disposable cans in a landfill. NOTE: I realize that some people refill the disposable cannisters, but they are not safety-rated to be refilled. Just for your own peace of mind and safety, buy a couple reputable refillable cans, you'll still save plenty of money in the long run. I've seen one of these single use cans explode while camping, my friend singed one of his eyebrows off and melted his fleece jacket.

Great price and more.
Works exactly as it should. Not as heavy as others, and smaller overall all. Fits perfectly on both bottles. Would buy again.

Worth it
It works. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to refill the 1lb tanks. I only give it 4 stars because the fuel gauge really doesn't work. Worth the price.

A ten to one no-brainer…
At my local big-box hardware store I am able to refill my 20 lbs. tank for approximately $20, thus $1 for a pound of propane. The same store sells six of the green 1 lb. gas cylinders for $60, thus $10 for a pound of propane, packaged more conveniently. This GASPRO refill adapter enables one to conveniently and safely refill the green 1 lb. bottles at one-tenth the price of purchasing new bottles. It is a no-brainer to use the adapter, particularly if one is a heavy user of the green bottles, as I was over the Thanksgiving holidays, when I had three going at once: one for boiling the water for coffee, a second for the camp stove cooking the bacon, and a third for the heater, as it was about 40 F. Over the four days I used 18 green bottles as it went below freezing each night. The adapter is easy to use. Simply thread one end onto the 20 lbs. tank, then thread the green cylinder onto the other end. Invert the 20 lbs. tank and open the valve to the 20 lbs. tank. One should be able to hear the hiss indicating that the green tank is filling. There are a number of instructional “how to” YouTube videos on this process. I found some contradictions. For example, one said that it is best to take the green gas cylinder from a freezer. Another swore that his kitchen scales indicated that there was no difference in the amount of propane transfer, between the freezer version and the room temperature version. Both however approved of the process. Not so a warning video from the Department of Transportation, saying it was (sorta) illegal to refill them, and not wise to boot. Looking at it closely, it appears to be an industry funded “scare” video. Sure, we should never refill around on open flame. And I strongly suspect that the purported thin walls of these tanks could withstand 500 refills, much like a Scuba diving tank. One issue that I did not see addressed: if one is refilling ten green cylinders or so, it might only take five minutes to fill from a 20 lbs. tank which is completely filled. By the 10th cylinder, it takes longer, and I found that one hour is better than a half an hour. I’m still working on refining the estimates for the length of time as a function of the fullness of the larger tank. For now, though, this adapter is a great way to save a bundle of money… perhaps enough to pay for the gasoline to drive to the campsite. Attached is a picture of the inverted 20 lbs. tank filling a green 1 lb. cylinder. 5-stars, plus.

Awesome
Works great as long as you freeze the smaller container first. I had tried at room temperature 1st time, so only filled 1 lb can about 10%. Did not purge 1 lb can. Put it in freezer for 20 minutes and tried again, it filled to 50%. I am convinced thst if you follow the purge, freeze, fill method that this adapter would work better

Great money saver
This thing works well to fill the 1 lb bottles from the bigger 20 lb tanks. Biggest key to success is to put the smaller bottles in the freezer for about 15 minutes prior to filling. This allows for the liquid propane to kind of get "sucked" down into the bottle due to the temperature difference. You won't get as good results and filling if you don't freeze the small bottles first. Other than that, this item works as it should!!
