Pajama Time! (Boynton on Board)

A perfect book to read/sing before going to bed.

This children’s author is my favorite. It is a fun read making getting ready for bed a fun time. This is a favorite baby shower gift along with a night light and a sleeper or a pajama. Another favorite of my toddler grandson is Boyton’s Red Hat Green Hat. He loved saying the Oops!

This book. SO many sweet memories reading this with my kiddos. We bought this for our niece, and she enjoys it just as much. Definitely a fan fav. The illustrations are so cute! Anything by Boyton is a treat!

Bought this copy as a baby shower gift- I was a toddler teacher for many years and this has been a beloved favorite of many children I have read it to! I have bought this book over and over for my classrooms and as gifts.

This book was on the back of one of our other Boynton books, and my 2 year old kept pointing at it. Now that he’s becoming more verbal, I’ve been using her books to practice new (and other common) words. Naturally, I had to buy this one since he seemed so interested in it. SO GLAD I DID! This has quickly become one of his favorites. I was a little afraid at first, because it reads more like a song. It doesn’t have to be, but I end up singing and almost rapping the words a bit. This book has great rhyming and a good flow to it. It’s one of the longer ones (longer than Moo, Baa, La La La, and a little longer than The Going to Bed Book). After only a few days, he memorized the words. I usually leave the last word off and hold a long pause, in hopes he’ll finish the sentence. Some of the words & phrases are a little tricky, like “Pajama Time,” but there’s a lot he CAN say! As with most other board books, sometimes I change the wording a bit. I’ll shorten pajama to PJ, or add in something funny that relates to my son. He gets so excited about this book that he brings it to me all day long. I highly recommend this and all other Sandra Boynton books if your little one is learning to talk!! We’ve been reading them since he was about 5 months, and he loves every single one. This is such a fun book. A little singalong when getting ready for bed. My 3-year-old granddaughter absolutely loves it!

We have become huge Sandra Boynton fans over the last couple years. I discovered how wonderful her books were after I had my son, who is now 18 months. Pajama time was our first Boynton book. I've been reading it to him every night since he was 3 months old and now he picks it up every night before bed and wants me to read it to him. It's a tradition that we look forward to and my 10 year old gets into as well. The story is a catchy rhyme about bed time, or pajama time. It starts and ends perfectly to transition into bed time. The beginning is "The moon is up. It's getting late. Lets get ready to celebrate. It's Pajama time". Even just starting off bedtime with a fun beginning like that makes bedtime easier for us. Then at the end the words "It's pajama time" are large, then smaller, then very small. We have fun shouting the first time, reading in a normal voice the second time, then whispering the last time. My son thinks it's hilarious! The whole book is fun, silly and catchy. I don't mind reading it every single night at all. The length is perfect, it takes a few minutes to finish. The pictures are cute and bright. I have now bought this for about 5 different baby showers I've gone to because I think it's wonderful to start reading to kids early and often. So I hope that my friends (and everyone else) enjoy this as much as we do.
