It is to read a page at a time, maybe two, and really feel the words and concept to what it’s trying to convey. It is meant to be meditative. If you like Eckhart’s teachings it’s more of a reminder of the same old message in different forms and words. It’s so easy to get lost in the daily to do’s and worries, and this book helps to bring u a little more to the present moment. It can only take 1 minute a day. Put it somewhere you can see and can open it and just read one page. Breath. There are no new concepts in this book, it is more of a decorative book, big font, a few sentences on each page. It feels thin in its words, and therefore seems as not good value for money, but it says EVERYTHING, and what value it has is up to you to decide. I’m impressed for someone to have the same message on each page but in a different form. You know what to expect, so just by looking at it you get a reminder of the message. Review: Good book - Good book

A Handy Reference to Staying on Track
At first glance "Stillness Speaks" may seem like less of a "real book" than "The Power of Now" or "A New Earth". It is smaller in size, shorter and does not have the same kind of continuity in the sense of going on an inward journey. Yet that is exactly what appeals to me about it. This is the kind of book I can place on my nightstand, open to any page, read a few ideas to ponder and put away for the night (or day). For someone who is struggling to integrate the concepts in Tolle's other books, this one may not have much appeal. For for those who have done the inner work, who have been on the journey for a while, this book offers succulent reminders of ways to continually bring ourselves back to appreciating every moment and manifestation of life. For example, after writing the last sentence I randomly opened the book to page 72 and read, "Sometimes surrender means giving up trying to understand and becoming comfortable with not knowing." This is such a simple idea, profound and yet a tremendous challenge for most seekers. This is not a book to read from cover to cover. It is a book to ponder a bit at a time. The ideas presented are so rich with meaning that trying to absorb it by simply reading would render the mind dull and bloated. It is a meditation tool, a garden of ideas, any one of which has the potential to expand consciousness.

A helpful revisit of the main signposts in The Power of Now
The Power of Now is my all time favorite book. It has changed my life in ways no other book has. I first read it one and a half years ago and have read it diligently since then. I listen to the CD's in my car almost daily. Last year I had the priveledge of going on a 5 day retreat with Eckhart at the Omega Institute in New York. It was a powerful, life changing experience and I can say he is the real thing. He is an embodiment of what we're all looking for. So I looked forward to Stillness Speaks since I read about it months ago. It is a good book. However, like Practicing the Power of Now, Stillness Speaks supports and strengthens the ideas in The Power of Now, but doesn't continue on from them. In other words, there's nothing new in Stillness Speaks. Which is fine and as it should be. The Power of Now said it all. Stillness Speaks seems designed as a way to go deeper into the concepts of The Power of Now. It's the main signposts in The Power of Now communicated and packaged in a different way. Therefore, it's not the new, groundbreaking book The Power of Now is. The content of Stillness Speaks will be familiar to everyone who has read The Power of Now. For this reason I give it four stars instead of five. I know I'll be reading, contemplating and meditating on Stillness Speaks for years to come. Stillness Speaks is not a conventional book, but a series of 200 short entries that are meant to be read one by one and meditated on. I would say one would have to fully read The Power of Now in order to get full benefit from Stillness Speaks. As with Practicing The Power of Now, I would recommend Stillness Speaks to those who have read The Power of Now and want to go deeper into it.

Must Have!
Eckhart Tolle is brilliant. I've read all of his books and this is my favorite (after The Power of Now). You can pick it up, put it down, open it to any page and read a little or a lot. Eckhart is always bringing you out of the quagmire of your incessant mind and into the peaceful present moment. Highly recommend this book. I keep it on my desk all the time. I bought this one for my mother.

FIVE STARS FOR THE AUTHOR WHO IS THE NARRATOR USUALLY! THIS WAS AN ACCIDENT THAT I MUST HAVE MADE!
STILLNESS SPEAKS: STILLNESS AMONG THE WORLD! I got this from AUDIBLE, which I just used one of my credits. It's by narrated by a soft spoken BUDDHIST MONK who I have one other by him, and since I just got it last night, I have not yet, had a chance to listen to it. Since I haven't tried it I am sure it's worthy of its Five stars, but since I thought about it, and haven't been even able to hear it on my computer, to listen to the sample, I plan on exchanging it for something else that I took the trouble to read reviews, there are a couple of other choices that I would rather listen to so as soon as I can either tonight or tomorrow I'm returning it. I bought three Non Fiction Kindle books that I saw get put on my orders, but they are mysteriously gone. I would much rather listen to those than this, and since I never returned anything before I'm exchanging this for either a credit since I didn't even download it on my phone yet. That's what's great about an Audible membership, which if for any reason I don't like it, and they didn't get any returns from me in over 15 years of my membership with them, I'm pretty sure they will credit me, and if not then I will get to it sometime when I have a chance to listen to it, which won't be anytime soon. Listening to Non Fiction Titles on my phone that connects to my Bluetooth speaker in my car while I'm doing errands makes the driving time go by too quickly. This was going to be something that I listen to on my phone, but I forgot I bought it by accident, or I would have returned it this morning. I am hoping that I don't have any issues when I exchange it, but I'm very sorry I can only recommend the author, who I hope is the narrator, in case I end up deciding to keep it, I honestly have to say that anything by this author is Five star worthy, and if I end up listening to it in a long time from now, I'll come back, and update this review. I usually buy the Kindle copy also, which I didn't but if you're interested it was only $8.99 last night. That's my honest experience with this AUDIBLE purchase. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but thank you so very much for reading my review. It was an accident that this was purchased, since I was looking at the Kindle copy, and must have hit the Audible credit, by mistake.

Those seeking more knowledge will be disappointed
This book will not make you more knowledgable. Rather, if its message reaches you, it will make you less certain about what you think you know. Let me explain why this is a good thing. If you consider yourself to be on the spiritual path, it is extremely important to ask yourself what your real motivation is. Do you have a desire to attain to the ultimate bliss? Do you want to feel more secure? Do you want to feel like you have life all figured out? Watch out. If you are still desiring (as most of us are), even if you are desiring something spiritual, you will never attain it. The basic requirement is to be without desire. I don't know about enlightenment, because like most people I still have desires, but I have noticed that when I surrender to life instead of desiring something more, I am much more peaceful and happy. Oftentimes people start a spiritual search in order to gather more knowledge; they want to formulate a belief system and find "facts" to back it up. This gives a false sense of security, and if you examine it closely, you will realize it is false because all belief does is suppress doubt. If you really know something, belief is unnecessary. Do you have to believe in the sun or the air? There is no need. The Power of Now will give you much more information to cling to than this book, which is probably why many readers prefer it. The Power of Now is an excellent introduction to Tolle's message and will help you to understand this book better. However, Tolle has wisely made it more difficult to reduce his latest book to a system of beliefs. Instead of knowledge, which is borrowed information, Tolle gives readers their own eyes to see. If you are tired of reading ABOUT living in the moment and are ready to TRY IT OUT, this book is an excellent place to start. I also highly recommend Osho's Book of Secrets, a collection of 112 meditation techniques fully explained. Let me close by quoting Tolle: "Do you need more knowledge? Is more information going to save the world, or faster computers, more scientific or intellectual analysis? Is it not wisdom that humanity needs most at this time? "But what is wisdom and where is it to be found? Wisdom comes with the ability to be still. Just look and listen. No more is needed. Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you. Let stillness direct your words and actions."
