Updated, Works as stated, Do Not Use Skin/Sleeve on iPencil
After reading my review, the Company reached out to me, explaining that what I was experiencing showed that I got a faulty unit. They wanted me to give them another try with their product, since they stand by their product and their customers. I agreed to do this since I do believe in giving a fair review for a product. They did not ask me to change my review. After much testing I decided to revise my review. I hope this helps others. It turns out that this device works as advertised. I did get a faulty unit the first time. The TechMatte Charging Case does come in handy when you are working with your iPencil and you need a quick charge. Also works as a storage device when you do not want to keep the iPencil attached to your iPad, but you need to keep it plugged in so that the iPencil stays charged. Make sure you keep the Sleeve/Skin off else you will find that the battery of your iPencil and/or the device will be completely depleted. This case doesn’t close completely with the Skin/Sleeve on. The Company features and details: Tested! “Ability to charge externally with a wall adapter (Wall adapter not included). Once the charging case is fully charged you can charge your pencil in our case wirelessly.“ - (TRUE), I tested this and charged the case then placed the iPencil 2 in the case after I used it and it charged the iPencil while plugged into the wall I used my own wall adapter since one doesn’t come with it. Keep in mind that the best adapter needed is the one that you use for the regular iPod, iPhone or iWatch original wall adapters. I recommend a wall charger not greater than 5 volts, 2.4 amps. Anything more than that may overcharge destroy your iPencil. “Built in Indicator light to let you know the charging status.” - (TRUE) I found that the way they made the lighting on this device was strange. FLASHING RED for low battery or charging, also A STEADY RED for fully charged, then GREEN When charging the Apple Pencil. “Takes about 30 minutes for a full charge with wall charger output : 5 volts at 1.1 Amp (Takes about the same or slightly less time with a 2.4 amp wall charger).” (TRUE) This device did take 30 minutes to get a full charge. After the device had been fully charged, unplugged and I placed the Apple pencil in to charge it, it took a few minutes for the TechMatte Charging Case to fully charge the iPencil. I advise you keep the charger plugged in while charging the pencil else the iPencil and the charger will begin to lose their charge to depletion. “Will not work with a pencil sleeve - Please remove all accessories from your Apple Pencil before using the charging case.” - (VERY TRUE) I found that the pencil charger works with a certain type of cover called SKIN Cover instead of the sleeve for an iPencil. The Skin iPencil Cover is thinner and allows the pencil to charge on the iPad and on this TechMatte charging case. Even though the company clearly advised against it. (However, by charging with the sleeve on, you are at risk of damaging your expensive iPencil.) I found that the case doesn’t close fully with the Sleeve/Skin on and the iPencil over-heats and takes longer to charge. This would damage the batteries of both the iPencil and the device being used by overheating. I would advise caution, and not to use the Sleeve/Skin. Conclusion: If you are looking for a case that charges and holds your Apple Pencil, that Does Not Drain the Batteries, this case will work for you. It is a temporary holding case that charges while plugged in, but does not work well with the Sleeve/Skin On the iPencil. It’s small enough and good enough for traveling, or to have on the side of the desk while working on a project. This device does the job. It works for what it is intended for.

Angry that I didn't know about this before now...
UPDATE: 2 years in and still works like a charm! Getting ready to buy another one just in case. My Apple Pencil still won’t charge on my iPad. This is the only way I can use it. So when I got my iPad Pro I got the Apple Pencil with it. The Apple Pencil NEVER worked right. Eventually, it stopped charging altogether and was completely useless. FINALLY, last week I got another Apple Pencil (thinking that I just had a faulty Apple pencil) and guess what? It won't charge either! Why? I'm convinced that there's something wrong with the charging port on my iPad Pro. If I would have known about this product before now I would have never thrown away my first $150 Apple Pencil. It works like a dream! Charges fast and is easy to use. I wish I would have known about this before now.

Small and works, but feels cheap
This charger works as it says it does....it charges quickly when you plug it in, and my pencil has no trouble charging in it, even with a skin on it (not a silicone cover, but a skin). It's smaller than I thought it would be, which is actually great. I have another small carrying case I carry my pen in and this fits in there with it. My only real complaint is that the materials feel super cheap. Very low quality plastic. I don't expect it to last very long. Pretty sure if I dropped it, it would absolutely crack or break. Good for what it is, and I'll keep it since there aren't really other options, but once there are I will replace it.

If you have multiple Apple Pencils, this is a great product.
Inexpensive, a must for multiple Pencil households. Charges nicely, LEDs aren't obnoxious. Quality doesn't feel AMAZING, but doesn't feel cheep either. It does what it says it does, also looks nice doing it. 100% recommend this product.

Not Worth It
Followed all instructions for this case, and found that it basically worked “ok” for the first few days. Definitely trickle charges and there’s no way it would be able to recharge even 50% battery. After a few successful(ish) charge boosts, placing my Apple Pencil in the case would actually DE-CHARGE it. First, it’s concerning that the case weighs about the same as a cotton ball. Really cheaply made. And somehow, it takes HOURS for the case to reach a full charge. So, week 2 into having this thing, I started to notice that I’d retrieve my AP from the fully-charged case and it would have less battery than when I’d placed it in there - oftentimes, the battery would be completely depleted. So I decided to watch the charging status on my iPad as the AP was inside the case. Bear in mind, this case takes so long to charge that I would leave it plugged in overnight. So, I wanted to test this case for the real-life scenario that I purchased it for… after spending a few hours sketching on my iPad, my Pencil was at 23% so I grabbed the TechMate that had, at that point, been plugged in to an AC adapter for 16 hours. It was fully charged. I unplugged it from the charger because the entire purpose of buying this thing is for the cordless charging. I watched the AP battery status on my iPad as it sat in the case, and the lightning bolt did come on to indicate charging, but the percentage rolled backwards. It depleted my AP battery from 24% to 0% in just under 4 minutes. I have specific scenarios where I simply don’t want my Apple Pencil taking any battery life from my iPad Pro to charge. I also don’t want to lug around a bunch of battery packs in these instances. In these scenarios, I can get by with only carrying my iPad & Apple Pencil… if I could find a charging boost solution for the Pencil where I can connect it for about 5 mins to get 10-15% battery life back. The apps I’m using are hard on the Pencil. I think I’ll end up just buying a generic stylus to supplement these situations.

Easy charging, I have two pencils and use them for hours on end. One is always charging this way. It does a good job and I pleased with it.
