Is the taupe a light ash brown?

I got the taupe - goes with the green eyes and blonde hair. You may want to get both & blend a custom shade if your natural brows are really that dark.

Is the auburn very dark? I have light brown-auburn hair with blonde highlights.

The auburn is a "light" auburn, at least in my opinion. I have dark red - I guess you could call it dark brown-auburn - hair. Since I have basically no eyebrows to speak of, other than those closest to the center, I use a pomade from Sephora first. The color is called "caramel" but is more a medium brown to match my brows. I then dust them with this auburn color and it lightens the color and gives them a softer auburn. Works perfectly for me. I find brows are the hardest feature to "get right" and it may take some practice. It took some time for me, but I finally have the combination that works. If you use more and can go on darker. I tried to upload a picture of the color, but system would only allow a "video."

Does it come out of compact so I can put in a magnetic case with other makeup? If it is in metal container inside compact, I'm hoping it pops out.

I just looked at mine and it does look like the container inside the compact is metal but I don't see any way to get it to pop out.
