Probes last less than 2 years!
Could no longer calibrate and get effective pH readings. Replaced and calibrated, now the unit works properly.Do not rely upon an older probe!

Back in Business
I got 3 years from my original PH 60 meter until it started giving me an error code when calibrating. I always leave it soaking in solution when not in use.3 years!!This new tip calibrated easily and I hope to get anotehr 3 years!! Good price too.....compared to the Aprea site, where I would have preferred to buy it from!! Come on Apera, what are you thinking?? Like giving someone else a slice of the pie??!

The last ph tester you will buy. Ever..
Hands down the best PH TDS EC ORP tester I have used, and abused, ironically I ask doing this review because, simply, I'm not easy on this tester, I drop it loose it , kick it, but not in three years have I broken a probe.Atleast the glass bulb, so I have to wonder what these ppl were doing , one person says too exposed, exposed too what the rock hard water in your solution or were they PHing rocks?! Nothing worse than misleading reviews. Breakage of the probe is user error and bc Apera cant say it, STUPIDITY. If you buy this instrument I guarantee you will not break a probe unless your using it for something which it was not designed. Thus u cant complain when it breaks. The other one was some one cleaning it, firstly n lastly, READ THE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS, where it says clearly avoid cleaning the glass probe using a contact method in other words dont touch it and if ya do, do it with a tip cotton ball, not a hammer.Ive head this 3 years bought it with the flat sensor which is great and went thru two more on my third but thoes were all user error. Leaving it stored in distilled water not orp solution etc.The replace or changeable probes is the feature that puts too bed thoughts of another brand. I have all three and they ask have their uses in a garden nursery.

Broken and not working
I never make reviews for any products, but had to since this probe arrived broken. I handled the replacement probe with proper care and followed all directions to recalibrate, but kept getting wildly inaccurate results that would not stabilize. Readings are all over the place with every use and cannot get to probe to function properly. It sucks because I really liked this pen/probe and would love to keep using it. But it looks like it may be time to switch to a competitor like blue labs if I can’t get a refund or replacement!

Calibrated easily
Didn’t screw the probe tight on a brand new unit and it got wet inside. Bought a new probe, hoping the main body electronics weren’t damaged. Installed new probe making sure it was tightened this time. It calibrated easily. What a relief. Lol

Unreliable thus far, or just iffy calibrations
Up front, reading the old reviews, this was an updated design that I received and now you can't impact the bulb due to an addition of a plastic cross beam. Savages...it's a test tool, use it accordingly.Using a 3-point test, I really don't feel confident with the outcomes. My Hach is the calibrated go-to in order to double check these sticks and it agrees. The original probe was fine but finally fell off after 2 years, fine...that's how it works. This thing is just sample-to-sample and can't be sure it's telling the truth at all. Sometimes it's backing the lab calibrated Hach, sometimes it's just guessing. Same sample, can be from 12.1 to 11.3, so I go with the Hach and think about switching brands.I'd stick with the Hach but those probes last just as long and the probes alone cost as much as this entire stick new. This is a replacement head for the stick. Is that added plastic bar messing readings up?I'll try one more then move back to the other brand. Was really happy with the OEM stick as a whole, just don't like this single replacement head.I don't like that new plastic bar. It shouldn't matter, but it's there, and now things are different, so...let people break their bulbs by misusing their test equipment. I don't. I use them gently, use a sample cup, calibrate once a day, and have several higher end products to back a common stick up with. Even pH sample strips disagree with this thing most of the time. The probe isn't fragile, it's glass. Send me the old style with no plastic bar and I'll confirm or disprove if that's the problem. Science.

pHantastic
Great piece of equipment. Much better than the cheap pieces of junk and a replacement probe cost about the same. Four stars for being a bit pricey initially.
