Q: What air pump works well for this mini filter?

I have 2 of these mini filters. I use one of these pumps on each filter. The Uniclife UL40 twin outlet with multi speed control. It works very well and gives you a second output to run other filters or air stones. The multi speed control is important. I have tried other smaller single output hoses. Only to be disappointed that they made more noise and provided more pressure then desired. The multi speed control is able to dial back the pressure lower then that of the fixed pressure single output pumps. Keep in mind this setup is for mini tanks.

Q: Can it be placed horizontally?

Not really... the expansion of the bubbles as they rise in the water column is what drives the filter action by pulling water through... so, yes it CAN be placed horizontally but that will greatly reduce the volume of water being filtered. I bought 2 of these & planning on fitting a longer tube than what it came with for improved function. Other than the short tube i like the design

Q: Sell replacement sponge?

Sorry, our fish tank filter has not replace the sponge

Q: Where do you get replacement sponges?

wash the sponge out with tank water. Don't replace. For a while like years. When it starts looking rough. Read up on aquariums and sponge filters. All the good bacteria is in the sponge. Replace it lose them wash in tap water lose them. Lot of companies make a killing on people that think they have to spend the money every month.
