Turf Tuff Stihl Air Filter fits 028, Woodboss, AV, and Super Chainsaws #s 1118-120-1615, 1118-120-1611

I have a Stihl 028. Had to trim the plastic nub off the back side that did not belong there and then had to remove the center locking insert out of the old filter and use in the new filter as the center cross hole pin is either too large in diameter or in the wrong location as the plastic knob on the saw would not lock into the pin. Other reviews have mentioned this issues as well. Installed filter, but have not ran saw yet.

It attaches to the saw correctly and appears to filter out sawdust. The saw is running fine after 10 minutes or so of continuous use. The problem is that the cover can't be reattached with this filter on. The center screw has a bar running through it. The cover's knob is supposed to be able to grab this bar as it's twisted, but the bar is too deep in the screw. The knob reaches it (I can feel it seat when it's turned to the proper orientation), but it can't grab the bar as it's too deep. This was not a problem with the previous filter.I have an 028 Super. I gave two stars since it does do it's job as a filter, but it's not compatible with the saw as advertised.

had to work on it to fit its for 028 and it see if it works or trash it ?

The filter plastic housing had a molded piece of plastic that the original did not have. I needed to remove that 1/8th inch protruding nodule to fit the filter. Tore away some fleece filter in process.
