I’m not sure how it actually fastens around the door but it fits so snug to the floor, it doesn’t need to be fastened for me! It’s slightly long but has zero affect on the door closing or opening because the pieces inside are slightly shorter than the case so it’s just martial.Styrofoam pieces in separate cylinders that you slip inside the black case. The material seems durable and proper for the job too. I just put it on my apartment door so the heat won’t escape into the cold hall and the cold air from the hall won’t come in. Now, to find something as easy, durable and perfect fit for my windows as this was!If I had roommates or family members, I’d consider buying more because since I placed this, I barely hear anyone in the hall!! And you can usually hear everything going on in the hall.very happy with my purchase! Will update if issues arise.

You have to assemble the product but that's easy enough. We have to strongly close the door to get it to latch, but the flexibility of the blocking strip makes that easy, too. There is a 99.7% 😁 reduction in the transfer of cold air into the house. I am very happy that I bought this.
