Works as I hoped
I bought this to add an IDE DVD drive I had lying around to an all SATA PC. I was concerned from other reviews in that all my SATA ports were AHCI and I couldn't change an individual one to IDE. However, it seems to have not made a difference. I did have to set the drive to Master and force it to drive D, letting it choose it's on letter didn't work. I have burned a DVD with it, but at a fairly slow speed - I have yet to try at the drive's max speed so I don't yet know if it's running at full speed. I will update if it fails, otherwise assume it's good. The only other installation issue is that it was somewhat difficult to insert into the IDE port, pretty tight and I had some concern about bending a pin - but I got it in with no damage. Then once I figured out the drive D lettering it booted up fine.

WARNING: Computer Caught Fire!!! DO NOT BUY!
It worked for almost a month. Then one day it caught fire. Computer is destroyed. Smoke damage on the ceiling. So far company REFUSES to take any blame. They say I hooked things up wrong. I worked in IT for years. I hooked it up properly. The product (The one I received) was faulty. There is nothing protecting the circuit board. It almost burned the house down. Yet he refuses to do anything about it. DO NOT BUY from him. DON'T BE SORRY. I am now out the cost of the computer and smoke damage in the living room. Thank goodness some one was home when it happened.

Works as described
Worked well for me. I used it to transfer the data from my old IDE drives to new SATA drives. I can still use the old IDE drives using this product together with a SATA to USB adapter.

The 22 pin sata jack is fragile
I used this to convert an old ide drive to a sata drive. As another reviewer pointed out, the 22 pin sata power plus data jack is quite fragile. The jack cracked between the 15 pin power and 7 pin data housing, which then resulted in 5 of the 7 data pins fracturing where they passed through the board and ultimately causing intermittent drive operation. Testing all board components revealed that the microcontroller had failed as a result of this intermittent operation. As the other reviewer pointed out, use strain relief to prevent this if you are connecting the drive externally.

Remember to use jumper for master
Thought it didn't work at first - someone in the Q&A here helpfully reminded me you need to use a jumper to master the drive, so if you're having trouble, try that. After that, it worked like a charm!!! I was able to copy all the data off 3 old drives, checked for integrity, it worked flawlessly.Only gripe, and honestly the manufacturer is doing their best here so I can't dock any points for it - it's too bulky to fit in many hard drive caddies, so you're going to be holding your drives in the old fashioned way (screws). Not that manufacturer's fault - it's as slim as it could be.Also - this is for connecting an old (female IDE) drive to a new (female SATA, male SATA cable) mobo. Don't go complaining if you try and go the other way and it doesn't work - there are a TON of products out there for that, this just isn't one of them.I'll try to edit with pictures later.

WORKS GREAT! Brought back my old IDE LightScribe DVD burner!
At first I was a little worried after reading some reviews about others having no luck with this adapter, especially with CD/DVD-ROMs. I set my drive to master, plugged this adapter to the IDE input on the drive along with the 4-pin Molex power cable (included with adapter), plugged in the SATA power & data cables to the adapter and booted PC. Drive came up reads and writes as it should! Might have to get another for my old IDE HDD’s.One thing to note on the item I received was one of the individual power cables on the adapter side (smaller connector) was not inserted all the way into the connector. A little shove onto the connector and I head the click and it seated just fine and was no longer loose.
