ULTIMATE RAT ZAPPER!!!
I had a rat die in my car and had to spend $900 at the dealership getting it fixed and de-ratted. I bought this trap and within a week I have killed 10 rats! I call it the Rat Zapper 3000 & it is SO worth the money. Also it is the easiest way to dispose of the rat. I hate traditional traps because I’m afraid I’m gonna break my fingers setting it. I also cannot do a glue trap because that just hurts my heart. This trap is battery powered, easy to set & easy to dispose of the dead rat. And I have heard it work and it was humane. When I say, please buy this trap if you have a rat problem, I cannot express the way that this trap has made my life so much better. No need for traditional traps or poisons. Get this trap and zap the rats!!!!!!!

Best rat/mouse trap, ever! Worth every penny!
Previously, I was only accustomed to the traditional rat/mouse traps. The ones you have to be careful not to smash your fingers in! Our pest control guy uses the traditional traps and the bait boxes with the sticky pads. Not having dealt with a lot of rats, at least ones in the main living areas of my home, I wasn't certain about the best way to "erraticate" the pesky rodent(s). Sure, there are your typical rats/mice in the garage and crawspace, etc. Our pest guy typically addressed those "ratskills". Those traps are ok in those areas. Out of sight, out of mind, right? But, we had one enter our domain, and that was not cool at all! I wondered...what's the best solution? An electonic mouse trap? I must admit that I was a little skeptical when I purchased this, considering the price. Would it be just a gimmick? I questioned whether it was cheaply built, and whether or not it would really work. However, when it arrived, I found that it was constructed way better than I had expected. I was actually impressed! But, I still wondered if it would work. Well, that question was answered literally overnight! After setting it up the afternoon it arrived, the very next morning, the result was in! Sorry, Mr Rat! The governor granted no clemency for you!About the product: It is very simple to use. It takes 4 D-cell batteries, or you can use the included USB-C power cable (wall wart not included, but, hey, just use one of your extra USB-A phone plug you have laying around like I did). I used a small dab of peanut butter in the bait tray. Put the lid on. Power it on and set it against the wall in the area where you saw the little critter, or evidence of their activity. It has a light that flashes and a buzzer that beeps when one has been caught. When that happens, they are done! To empty it, you just turn the power switch to off. Open the top (the top comes off easily - not in a bad way, easily) and dump out the critter in the waste bin, or, you can have a proper burial if you should so desire! You do you! It's really that simple! In summary, it's a very effective product. Easy to use. We'll built. Great features for what it is. Much nicer than the Victor product I purchased at my local big box store, and it was less expensive. I believe it's a great investment and I will probably buy more of these to monitor other areas of my home. I highly recommend this product to others! Now, let's see if he has any relatives!Hope this was helpful. Have a blessed rest of your day!

Expensive but more humane and worth it
(This review is for the mouse version not the larger rodent or rat versions.)You can buy a bunch of cheap snap traps for the price of just one of these electronic traps. I bought those cheap ones first but there were so many drawbacks to them I switched to these and I'm happy I did.The first reason I didn't like the snap traps is that when they work you've got a (hopefully) dead mouse in plain view. I don't like walking into my kitchen and seeing a mouse carcass. With these traps everything is covered and out of sight until you're ready to deal with it. Yes the dead mouse is still there with these but I don't have to look at it until I'm ready.Another reason I don't like the cheap snap traps is that you have to arrange barriers so that the mouse can get to them but pets can't. I have two cats and quickly found out the barriers need to be pretty big and heavy to keep the cats away from the trap and the caught mouse. Kind of a hassle when I needed to place the traps around my kitchen. ButBut the biggest reason I switched from the cheap traps is that they don't always kill the mouse. Unfortunately, they sometimes just crush part of the mouse without killing it leaving it alive but suffering in pain in the trap until you notice it (which could be hours if you're away or asleep). I don't want mice in my house or garage but I also don't want fellow mammals to suffer needlessly. These traps worked great for me and eliminated the mice that had infiltrated my house within 3 days. They are easy to empty—just lift off the lid and dump into a trash can. You don't need to touch the carcass, pry it out of the trap or even look at it. Quick and convenient and the trap is ready to go for the next mouse as soon as you put the lid back on and flip the switch.I happened to be nearby when one of the traps caught a mouse. The trap emits a low whine or buzzing sound when it's activated. It's pretty quiet but I was able to notice it in a silent room. It stays activated for a while (I'd guess about a minute) to make sure the job is done. When it stops making noise after a short wait the light starts to flash to let you know it's caught a mouse. A previous reviewer mentioned a smell but fortunately there was no smell at all that I could detect.I had no issues with non-kills; when the light was flashing on my traps there was always a dead mouse inside. I'd guess an issue some other reviewer may have had is if the contacts that connect the top to the bottom get dirty or corroded. The trap likely won't work properly if it can't make a solid electrical connection.I have two cats and I wanted to make sure these traps would be safe around them. Fortunately, the way these traps are designed with the location of the opening and the internal barriers there is absolutely no way even the most inquisitive cat is going to be able to get a paw in there let alone have two different paws touch the two metal plates. (Without going into the details on how this type of trap works a mouse would need to contact one of the metal plates with a front foot and the other with a back foot in order to be dispatched.) There is no way even a small cat or dog could do that and the voltage and current likely wouldn't be enough even if they could. You don't need to worry about your cats with this trap. Obviously, though, if you have rodent-sized pets such as hamsters you'll want to make sure they can't get near these. One thing I would change about this trap is to make the bait cup removable for easier cleaning and changing of the bait. What I did is put my bait peanut butter on a small scrap of paper and then put that down in the bait cup so that the peanut butter didn't stick to the trap itself. Another thing I would change is to have the trap self-test the connection to the bottom part when turned on. It should flash or something to let you know if the contacts are not making an adequate connection.I'm very happy with these traps and definitely recommend them despite the high price.

Works great
Excellent and effective device for dispatching rats but you have to get them to the trap so you'll need to use the right bait. We first used peanut butter with no luck but then tried sunflower bird seed by placing a few seeds just inside trap entrance and some just outside which has worked excellent. Rats killed every night it has been set. We did set up plastic tarp shelter over the trap to keep majority of rain off and trap still works great. Easy to set up and dispose of rats after.

Works very well and works fast!
I just got this today and it was very easy to setup. I used peanut butter as suggested. Within a span of less than an hour, it had already caught one mouse and as soon as I threw that mouse out and put it back, it caught a second mouse within five minutes. Best of all, the mouse die quickly and they are very easy to throw out afterwards. I would definitely recommend this product. I used it in my front garden on a non rainy day as there was an every point near there that they were getting through. Works like a charm.

The PERFECT Rodent Killer, seriously
I've experimented with a lot of solutions to dealing with mice and I strongly believe this thing is the way to go. It is the most effective, reliable mouse killer I've tried by far. I know you might be balking at a price tag of like 80-100 bucks for a rodent trap. But, believe me when I say its actually worth the price tag. For several reasons:1) This large box design in particular is more effective than other trap types, including smaller designs. The mice seem to feel more comfortable waltzing into a larger container so it entices them much better than small box-style traps.2) It kills them instantly AS WELL AS humanely: This means no mess for you to clean up, and no mice that are still alive screaming and need to be put out of their misery. I know some people don't care much about this but I'd rather use methods that kill them fast and painlessly if its possible, if only because its less work on my end.3) Its much easier to re-use repeatedly compared to other trap styles.I've already killed a bunch of mice with it since I bought it. The amount of time and headache you save with this makes it completely worth it, and I'm even going to be buying more in the future so I can have several around my house.Important to note as with all traps that placement is key - I had to try different spots before I found the "hot spot". Usually its around food and in the kitchen.
