Very loud!
The media could not be loaded. This works great for my hotlogic and other things, but it's very loud. At first it was only the fan noise and now it's fan noise plus a high pitched humming noise. Other than that it serves its purpose. Does not get hot to the touch with extended use.

Can power 15 amp compressor
I use this to power my 15 amp compressor, Master Flow MF-1040 Cyclone High Volume Portable Air Compressor when inflating tires not near a 12v outlet. It can not only start the compressor and keep it running, but can re-start the compressor under a load of 30psi, the highest I have used it for while being powered by this supply. This is the best switching power supply I could find that also has a 12v outlet built in. The fan does run at 100% all the time, even if the unit is cool. Perhaps they could have put in a temperature controlled fan instead, but for my usage a constant fan is not an issue. Of note however are the short cords, you may need a standard 120v extension cord and perhaps a 12v extension cord as well.Extra digest: Since this provides 200 watts on the 12v side, this means at max load it uses a bit over 200 watts at the 120v side, making this power supply a low current device on the 120v side. The supply says input of 3 amps, which would be the input at a max DC output load of 15 amps. So according to the label 3 amps at 120 volts in equals 15 amps at 12 volts out. 120v times 3a = 360 watts; and 12v times 15a = 180 watts out, although this unit is rated for 200 watts which is about 16.6 amps at 12 volts. Assuming you get 200 watts DC for 360 watts AC in, the efficiency of this power supply is roughly 55% at full load. Of course actual tests must be done to determine actual efficiency, not calculations using label values. In the future if I load my compressor beyond 30psi and power it with this supply I will update this review.

Worked fine for 6 years of occasional use, then blew two capacitors.
I used this converter to power a couple of different Slime 12V tire inflators. It worked fine with occasional use (several times a year on 3 cars) for 6 years (purchased in September 2012). As other reviewers noted, the fan runs continuously. It has plenty of power to run a tire inflator. (I can't find exact current draw ratings for my Slime compressors, so I don't know how much power they use.)I recently powered the converter on with one of the 12V tire inflators plugged in to it, and didn't realize the compressor was turned on. I heard two loud pops (like firecrackers) and acrid smoke came out. Sure enough, two capacitors had blown. One other reviewer mentioned a similar problem, but in their case, nothing was plugged in when the capacitors blew. So I don't know whether the failure was due to having a 12V load at startup (the Max Burton manual does not warn against that) or simply due to age.I'm giving it three stars because it gave 6 years of good service before it failed.Instead of trying to find another more reliable power converter, I found what appears to be a good quality tire inflator (good reviews, warranty, etc.) that works on both 12V DC and 110V AC. That may solve my problem with one less thing to plug in.

Heavy duty AC-DC power adapter
I bought this AC to DC power adapter to be able to power a portable video camera light in a video studio to use as a back light for hair highlights. This works well and the total light assembly is very small. The light needs a 12 VDC 100 watt supply. This unit is capable of 200 watts. Most of the devices I Googled had much smaller output. The only thing that was a surprise for me is that the unit has a fan which causes interfering fan noise on my recorded videos. I had to lengthen the 12 volt output line to remote the unit away from the camera.

Works very well for my cooler
I had this very one and used it for years for my cooler, I finally broke it. It survived so well through so much abuse I chose to go with the very same thing..

Excellent tool for portable vehicle airpumps
I use this product to keep my inflation pressures constant and it has performed as described with no issues. The fan is very noisy so if you're charging up a portable GPS for example you might want to put it in another room. Works excellent for portable vehicle air pumps and and eliminates the waste of gas running your engine to power these type devices while filling up your tires. I do wonder if they could increase the fan size to slow down the rpms required to keep the unit cool thus alleviating some of the noise??

A Fine Little Converter
The only reason I gave this unit four stars instead of five is because I haven't used it that much yet. I bought it to be able to work with an air compressor and it works fine with it. The first one I bought got stolen from the back of my MicroBus. The thing is so useful I had to buy another. I'm a technician so I always need a voltage source for bench work and this is the one I settled on.

Robust power supply, but noisy cooling fan
This is a nice power supply which allows you to use relatively high-drain automotive (cigarette lighter plug-style) devices when you're not in the car. As one should expect given the power output, this is not a very compact device. Potential buyers need to be aware that the cooling fan that is built-in is quite loud. If you are using this to power things like air compressors, this will be a non-issue, but it will be quite noticeable if you are using it in a living space. The fan comes on and stays on the entire time the converter is on, as it is not a temp controlled fan. The upside is that the converter doesn't seem to get very hot.
