Q: Is there a way to attach to anything else, other than a door?

Probably not safely, it has a squared hook for a door so when you close the door it holds it, anything else might let it slip off, youd have to nail it to a wall or something. Hope this helps !!

Q: Is there anyway I can buy the thing for the door and not another strap?

All you have to do is use included strap and use it slowly. I use mine on the open floor and I have tight hips but the machine is small enough for small people and adjusts even for my vvb legs and I'm 6ft 1in.

No, you have to use the door attachment
