Life changing!
I have been lactose intolerant for over 30 years. I tried lactase enzyme pills, but they really were inconsistent and didn't work at all for me on some dairy products - (ranch dressing!). I tried a different pro-biotic strain from a different company first and it did NOT work for me (Lactobacillus acidophilus BL21A). I even cultured dairy (yogurt) with the pro-biotic to try to boost effectiveness, and it still did not help. However, I added this pro-biotic strain to my yogurt, and it is working like magic! The only side effect is that dairy does cause some 'backing up' of my system, so I take a magnesium citrate gel cap to keep everything moving. I did take the capsules for 1 week as directed before adding the pro-biotic to the yogurt. I can't say if the two strains combined together are the trick to making my yogurt work for me, but I know the other strain did not work before adding this one. To be able to eat dairy again without horrific pain is really life changing for me. Thank-you for making this product.

Works for me!
This product popped up as being recommended for me, based on my search for lactase pills like Lactaid. It sounded too good to be true, but there were a number of reviews that said it worked, and the description sounded straightforward and honest to me. And a single bottle, which (if it worked) would take care of my lactose intolerance for about 3 months, would cost what I'd pay for about a week and a half's worth of lactase. (My 40-year intolerance was so strong that I had to take about 20-25 Ultra Lactaids to eat an ice cream cone!) I gambled and bought a single bottle, not expecting miracles. What I got ... was a miracle! Instead of having to carry lactase pills with me everywhere and take them (lots of them!) with pretty much every meal, I don't even carry them any more! I hadn't even finished my first 1-week course of LactoFreedom when I noticed that I needed few or no lactose pills with most of my meals. (And for someone whose favorite foods are melted cheese and ice cream, that's a pretty big deal!) I have been taking LactoFreedom periodically for over a year and can't imagine living without it any more.A thought to those taking LactoFreedom: I had a bout with an intestinal virus soon after taking a course of LactoFreedom. It took me a few days before I realized that pretty much all the bacteria in my gut had been washed away, inluding those in LactoFreedom. I had to begin a new 1-week course at that point and once again, it worked like a charm. Also, I found that ordering many months ahead (buying, say, 5 or 6 bottles at a time) is not a great idea. Even though I kept them in the refrigerator as suggested, I found that coverage from the last few bottles was a week to two weeks shorter than with fresh bottles. I now order them one or two bottles at a time - but nothing is ever going to keep me from ordering them! Thank you, Dr. Manzo - these capsules have really changed my life for the better!

Not for the severely intolerant
My intolerance to lactose is severe. If I have more than a sip of skim milk or a bite of ice cream or a half tsp of butter, I have terrible bloating and digestive issues.I followed the instructions (eating a pile three times a day either one hour before or two hours after eating) for seven days with no side effects. I felt fine as I abstained from ALL lactose as I normally do.On day nine, I reduced the amount of lactase I take by 1/2 for a couple of cookies with butter (about 1 tsp of butter), and I noticed bloating. If the pills worked, it was MINIMAL and I doubt the effects would last long. For me, it is not worth the risk experimenting. I wanted these to work, but I suspect they're only effective for those with a mild intolerance.Perhaps the kind of person who wants to eat three slices of pizza instead of two without feeling a little bloated. Definitely not for someone whose genetic makeup demands they abstains from all lactose or they're out of commission for the rest of the day.

It can be liberating IF your gut problem is really lactose intolerance
Long ago, I had a bout of kidney stones in college, and at the time, the urologist suggested I back off on dairy products. Well, if you stop taking in dairy, your body will become "weaned;" you'll stop producing the lactase enzyme that breaks down the milk sugar. Years later, I ended up with leaky gut and candida overgrowth, which compounded my digestive problems for almost twenty years. Finally kicked the latter under an MD's supervision with longterm prescription antifungal meds and almost three years of a very low carb diet. But through it all, I've been COMPLETELY lactose intolerant --for going on forty years now. It's a lifestyle after that amount of time. Heard about this product from a friend, as he happily dug into a big plate of fettucini alfredo at a restaurant. Decided to try it. I knew I might have to take less than the recommended dose per day (1 or 2 caps instead of three a day) because my gut can react poorly to large volumes of any probiotic. I actually already took this same strain of probiotic, but in a lesser dose. Only had to adjust over two days, backing off to two capsules instead of three per day. Within a week after finishing the recommended course of pills, though, I was amazed to be able to eat a dish of real mac and cheese, brie on my crackers, cheesecake, butter, hard cheeses, high quality ice cream, and even sour cream-- which my gut NEVER liked, even as a kid. There are so many more non-dairy products available on the market now, I didn't feel like I really missed too many dairy products (except maybe hot cocoa on camping trips, and every once in a while, a good milkshake on a hot summer day)-- but being able just to order things off a restaurant menu without taking piles of good quality Lactase capsules (which now cost $16 per bottle) was truly liberating! It genuinely makes it harder to decide what to choose off a menu, since before, my choices were always dictated by how much dairy the dish contained. Gotta say, though, that, at least for me, the protective effect of the probiotic has gradually weakened over time. After about six weeks, I'd get very mild symptoms (which I could resolve with just one or two Lactase capsules, while back in the day I'd take 6) of nausea and bloaty-gas symptoms. But I'm just going to take the product again to boost those flora. One bottle of this stuff is still cheaper than going through as much Lactase as I usually have to buy-- especially before traveling to non-Asian lands/restaurants. Regular dairy like yogurt is also so much cheaper than coconut and rice alternatives (I don't do well with nuts, so all the almond products are useless for me). It also means that if I do end up inadvertently eating something cooked with dairy, I don't have to worry about any uncomfortable surprises afterward. So, this is still a step forward, as far as I'm concerned! Hooray for LactoFreedom!
