Accurate, fast, but need computer to set up unless Centigrade is OK
Bad: Not that much bad stuff, actually.> Cannot set up or start/stop logging without a computer connected> Product data says the computer is just Windows (see below)> Not ideal as a temperature monitor, as the display times out after a few secondsGood:> Worked out of the box, after putting in the battery> Elitech download site has a Mac version! It's compatible with my MacOS 10.14.2 laptop. No bugs either - I made a few changes (turn off logging and enable button stop/start, change to F from C) and they showed up in the device after I hit Save on the laptop.Note: The download file description is deceptive: for USB interface, you do not need to load the driver (an odd thing on a Mac anyway). Just run the app, and it finds and talks with the device. It may require that driver for serial interface, but that's not what I needed anyway.I would definitely buy again. I'm a HW/SW engineer, always impressed by good performance and trouble-free software - especially at a very fair price. It worked immediately

Good value for the money, but be prepared to install software and drivers...
You have to install proprietary (free) software in order to use this device. This is on contrast to some other USB-based devices that allow you to access the device as if it was a thumb drive and simply copying a data file. You also have to use the maker's software to change settings like how often the temperature/humidity sample is taken. The ability to control the device itself is limited pretty much to just staring and stopping the logging. Finally the data can only be saved as a PDF, a complex Excel spreadsheet, or an archive format that can only be read by the maker's app.If you have no issues with these requirements and limitations, the device itself is easy to use and works well. My first use case was to see how long it takes for a new air condition to cool down a bedroom to the desired temperature. For recording the temperature, either the internal sensor can be used or a plug-in sensor is supplied. Unfortunately the device will not record readings from both the internal and external temperature sensor. But then that would make this a 3 channel data recorder (internal temp, internal humidity, external temp) which I suppose is asking a bit much give the relatively low price. But it would have allowed doing things like comparing inside and outside temperatures for things like rooms and refrigerators.A tip on using the graph view on the application. There are very few timestamps displayed on the X-axis and you cannot change this (AFAICT). But if you place your mouse cursor on the curve itself, a pop-up will be displayed showing the recorded value and timestamp at that point in the curve. A better X-axis scale would still be nice to have.

Does everything a cheap data logger should.
I have been using this device continuously for a week now, and have to say I am extremely satisfied in its performance. I needed a data logger to monitor the temperature and humidity in my refrigerator, and given the cheap price and good reviews on their other products, I figured it was worth giving Elitech a go.The device itself is very easy to use. It has a single button, which you press to begin recording, and to cycle through the current, maximum and minimum temperature values on the LED display. It therefore lets me crudely monitor the conditions without having to upload all the data. The software is a little clunky, but lets you do all the essentials - configure the device, stop recording, upload the data from the device, and erase memory. I have found it more useful to use my own scripts to analyze the data, but the pre-packaged software does let the non-programmer visualize the temperature and humidity over time, and zoom in to get a closer look. The biggest issue I had with operating the device, was identifying which driver to install for my mac. The instructions were not immediately apparent, and it was only when attempting to install the python module that I came across the solution. I installed both the CP210x USB-UART bridge VCP driver and the CH340 Serial Driver, and it was only after installing the second that the software was able to recognize the device.I have not had any issues yet with operating it continuously at 0-10°C (and once briefly below freezing). Once I have satisfactorily monitored all the different regions of my fridge, I may be daring enough to throw the thing into the freezer and see how it fares. But I know that batteries and sub-zero temperatures are not good friends, so don't have high expectations.

The product does not work.
The product works as long as it is plugged into a USB port. When you disconnect it from the USB port, it will take about 3 temperature measurements and then quits working. The software is circa 1990's style and certainly NOT user friendly. Reminds me of an old home brew MSDOS program (the default installation directory is Root). The English documentation is scant at best, and written at about the U.S. 4th grade level. It takes awhile to figure out how the product and software work, and the documentation itself will not help much with that. After 2+ weeks of trying to get this product to work I'm returning it. Don't waste your money.

Beware: Link to obsolete software! External probe is 5.7 times faster than internal sensor
The enclosed instructions called for installation of software from www-dot-elitechus-dot-com-slash-download-slash-software. When I downloaded version 6.3.0 from that link it would not recognize the logger, even though Windows 10 recognized an empty USB drive. Also, after starting/stopping one logging run, it would not start another. After much flailing and frustration I found software version 6.4.6 (can't remember the link), and with that, it functions normally. I have since found 6.1.0, 6.4.3 and 7.2.0 on various elitech web pages. I haven't tried any of those. It's terrible that the manufacturer has not only unusable software, but multiple versions scattered around its websites. With 6.4.6 it is functioning as expected for me.With the Internal sensor, the time constant (time to reach 63% of the transition after an abrupt temperature change) is about 7 minutes. With the external sensor its about 74 seconds - much faster

It works as advertised
I originally thought the RC-4 data points could not be cleared thus the device would be filled up and became a throw away.. Not so, thanks to information received from Elitech Support. I received this via email from them: "When you export the data then click Save Parameter, the historical data will be clear and the memory will be released for continuous recording. " It works perfectly!

Software not supported on Mac
I downloaded the elitech software for my MacBook to work with the data logger as recommended by the manufacturer. However, the system does not permit me install it saying it is not approved by Apple.

Works well, setting a bit difficult
I am using on a Mac, so these comments apply to that:The setup instructions are way out of date. File names in the instructions do not correspond to the download. The files I did download were flagged by my system as needing to be updated to be loaded. I did go to the CHAT which was very helpful. They walked me through it. I was a bit nervous to override the Apple warnings about the files needing updating for security reasons. But I did so as I wanted to get this working. When the program loaded it advised that there was an update, which I downloaded. I am unclear if this new update fixed the problem Apple was being cautious about?Operating wise it all seems to work fine. But the Manual is quite vague and you need to do some trial and error to really see how to set things up. I am still unclear about some things, but I am logging what I need to log and able to download to XL format, so that works for me
