Q: how much weight does it hold?

Not sure the exact amount. I am in a hospital bed. And it could not hold my Kindle and book and other things I have always had in one of these.

Q: How sturdy is this product?

I would not recommend this if you need something sturdy. I bought a different one for that I let this one and have hundreds it for light things. It is very cute.

Q: how far apart are the hooks?

A non-adjustable 8" between hooks with the hooks themselves being 2".

Q: Would this work hanging on a window sill?

I tried to put mine in a window sill. Its round hooks won’t fit, but if you did something different with the hooks it may work. Also it definitely would on a sturdy curtain rod above the window. As is, it won’t hang directly on the bottom of the window sill though, sorry.
