My Grandpa took a piece of the Walnut tree in their backyard and turned the wood into a lamp. When I moved out on my own in the 70's he gave me his bedside lamp. Recently, it was having problems turning on or off. Fortunately, my Grandpa taught me quite a few things that at the time, girls didn't do such change the oil on his old Plymouth from the pit in his garage, or how to plumb, do minor electrical, etc. He felt that I would have the education to protect myself in the future from people trying to take advantage of me. Last year I rewired a French porcelain lamp that had been my Grandma's and this year I rewired Grandma's lamp. I laid everything out on my chest freezer that I had covered with dog pads. For right now it's my craft center for painting, decoupage, resin work, etc. The kit had everything I needed, it arrived with the package intact, and arrived on time. I chose the black instead of going with the gold that had originally been used. I like the use of black with the wood. More importantly, the lamp works great! I might move it to the desk my Dad built for me I stead of by the sofa.

I made the lamp myself and then used this to wire it. When first using it the bulb didn’t work, even when the voltmeter showed it had power. I finally thought to raise the tab inside the socket, other lamps had them raised slightly. Worked like a charm. Easy, inexpensive and looks great.
