Bought this to celebrate my birthday and it’s the absolute best thing I ever got myself! It has a little story on the side and the tuxedo cat girl is so beautiful with her very detailed dress. The parts are really tiny so be careful if you have younger children!

This is perfect for your kiddos. just be careful with the small pieces like cake decorations, teacups, etc.I personally bought this for myself because I used to play with calico critters when I was younger. Nothing wrong with reliving childhood!!

At my granddaughter's 3rd birthday party, she was so excited with this gift. She wanted it opened and didn't care about her other gifts, she just wanted to play with this. It is super cute, although the teacups and saucers are very tiny and will probably get lost.

My daughter has an ever-expanding empire of Calico Critters, and honestly I love them too. I love that when she and her brother play with them, it's always creative, imaginative play — making up stories, talking to each other, going on little adventures.One thing that sets Calico Critters apart is how wholesome the play is, and I think that's in part because every box comes with a little story describing how the family relates to each other and to other people. It's nothing too elaborate, but it sparks some creativity and it sets the context for positive relationships between each of the critters.Unfortunately, this little playlet does not come with a storybook, so I think it would work best if you already have the Tuxedo Cat family and perhaps already know who Lily is. My daughter did not have those, so she's missing some context of who Lily is and what kind of birthday she would want to have. It's not a big deal, really, but it's amazing how much those little story books add to a set!The other watch out I want to mention is that this playset comes with a high number of tiny, tiny pieces. All the cake decorations are removable. That's great because it gives kids more to play with, but it also means you'll need to be extra careful not to lose those tiny pieces.Overall, this set is definitely up to the high quality of durability and attention to detail that I expect from Calico Critters. Definitely a fun addition!
