Fun time killer
Easy to build, just time consuming. So some nerdy facts. 4096 LED's, meaning there were 8192 bends made in their leads, and a total of 8272 solder welds made in this project. Highly recommend the plexi case for it.

Challenging kit and nice demo display
This kit takes patience but is fun. I changed the color sceem to reflect in the middle. I think it looks better. WGRBWGRBBRGWBRGW. Trouble shooting was relatively easy. The case is a must.

Very good customer service
I am in the process of building this, so this is not a product review. I had an issue with some missing LEDs in my kit and the customer service from icubesmart was swift and effective. I would have no problem purchasing fro them again knowing that I will get good support from the seller.

Not for the newbie, but a very rewarding project
I have purchased and built this twice, I really enjoy it, but understand this is not a few hours, this is probably 40+ hours of work.

Make sure if it's a gift you open and make sure you are getting what it says in the description.
Product didn't even come with everything that it said it would come with. Bought this as a gift. The only thing it came with was the sides. No lights no nothing else. Extremely disappointed.

A soldering tour de force
This project is pretty darned cool. But be ready to crank up your soldering skills (upgrade to a decent soldering iron if you don't already have one). There are upwards 10,000 connections you will have to make to complete this project. The reward is a neat volumetric display and some greatly improved soldering ability. I suggest continuity checking the cathode and anode connections throughout assembly with your multimeter, 10,000 connections equals lots of points of failure. The cathodes are pretty easy, just a continuous row of LEDs. The anodes are soldered together when you have completed the 16 grids of LEDs. When you solder those together, you are supposed to end up with 16 continuous planes of connected LED anodes vertically. Check those for continuity as you finally solder the LED grids together. If your continuity checks on the cathodes and anodes all check out and there are no shorts between the two, your cube should work as advertised. Happy soldering!

3D Cube DIY: Now Featuring Chronic Solder Lung!
Nothing says “fun” like soldering over 8,000 times by hand while marinating in a constant cloud of burnt metal smoke. Ahh…that sweet aroma. You’ll navigate diagrams drawn by someone who thinks “up” and “down” are optional concepts and details don’t matter. 3600 LEDs, no solder gun, just you, and the sweet smell of future respiratory problems. It could have been sold with at least an LED bender template given there are 4,096 pins to bend by hand. By the time you finish, your cube will glow — and so will your lungs. Highly recommend if you enjoy suffering creatively.
