They’re just okay, I guess.
In all honesty I had very high hopes for the Bluetooth upgrade for the KZ Pro IEMs I have so much love for, but I was a little let down. The sound quality is a drop from the wired upgrade, but that was to be expected. Bluetooth doesn’t have as true of a sound as a wired experience. Period. The quality is still fantastic, but most of that is due to the IEMs with drivers that the Bluetooth upgrade is attached to.There is so much random dropout in the signal. It is usually both ears at the same time right now, but occasionally it is only one at a time. It is only for a split second, but when I am using them for audio editing, that’s a big deal. There are times when I have to go back to something in a sequence multiple extra times due to not knowing for sure if something is a glitch in my audio or if it’s the Bluetooth signal. It takes you out of the experience with music, but for general wear and use, I can ignore a little of it. I thought it was because I had touched the button on the earpiece without meaning to, or moving or touching my phone, but that just wasn’t the case. Later on, I had the phone sitting with the screen locked, on my desk next to my keyboard, untouched. I had my hands nowhere near my ears, and it dropped signal twice within the first half an hour of use. Not a good sign of quality.I also take issue with their pairing capabilities. Most times I take both of them out of their charging case, put them in my ears, and only one side pairs with my phone and the other sits flashing and failing to pair. Sometimes I put them in and they pair, but won’t play music and I have to power them off entirely and start over. I have had to troubleshoot them all but two of the ten times I’ve taken them out of their case. I was looking for a quick and simple experience, like with the AirPods or even some of the very low-end Bluetooth buds I have purchased in the past. That’s not what I ended up with. The packaging is simple and classy, the product looks great and fits comfortably. Battery life isn’t bad. The manual is comprehensive, but the English is extremely broken, making it a little hard to figure out what they were trying to say. That is absolutely forgivable, as they gave a good effort.I can’t attribute the fantastic sound quality to the Bluetooth upgrade, but my KZ Pros have amazing sound and I adore them. I’m certainly not getting rid of the IEMs themselves anytime soon, but as soon as I can afford the longest possible cable upgrade, I’m getting it. These Bluetooth bits will be going on vacation with me soon, but after that they will probably just gather dust in my home, as I don’t see myself using them often. They’re a chore to pair and they make for an awkward listening experience with regular and unexpected drop outs.I don’t feel like the seller of the product is at fault for this by any mean, as I’ve seen other reviews on the same product from other sellers stating that they are having the exact same issues. I don’t want to return them, as I purchased them from China to the US, and generally speaking, that is a tedious return process and I bought them for a good reason. They do their job, just far from the best that they could. The fault lies in their manufacture and engineering. It’s probably just low-end Bluetooth modules.
