Look at the Birdie: Short Fiction

Vonnegut's Shorts
An interesting book containing a bunch of odd little vignettes out of ordinary and not so ordinary people's lives. Most of the stories have interesting twists and turns, so you can't see the end from the beginning. Vonnegut is like that.I didn't like all the stories, you probably won't either. But I'll bet you will like a good number of them, perhaps even some of the ones I liked. When we meet, we may remember to discuss it.

Great read
I had read Fahrenheit 451 and Slaughterhouse Five in college years ago and was not familiar with Vonnegut's short stories. This book and others are a reading delight. I am addicted!

Worthy Addition - Delight for Vonnegut fans!
This newly published collection of Kurt Vonnegut short "stories" is a worthy addition to your personal library and a delight for fans - especially those that enjoy reading the full breadth of his writing style. While some of the selections display the quick wit with a twist so common to his more popular works, others border on the bizarre...of course, each has the element of surprise that only Vonnegut does so well.Contents include:ConfidoFUBARShout About it from the HousetopsA Song for SelmaHall of MirrorsThe Nice Little PeopleHello, RedLittle Drops of WaterThe Petrified AntsThe book is hardcover with dustjacket and contains just over 200 pages of pure pleasure reading...the type that makes literature worth the time and effort to slow down, read and reflect upon. Unlike authors of the past, Vonnegut reflects modern society and is often compared to the likes of Twain etc... with an up-to-date appeal that makes it relevant yet refreshing.Very enjoyable - superb gift idea for Vonnegut fans!

Hubby loved short stories
Bought for Father’s Day. My hubs is a big fan of Kurt V. He has not put book down, even though he was reading another book.

Full disclosure I love Kurt Vonnegut
Just wow. Full disclosure I love Kurt Vonnegut, but I was hesitant about this book since it was post-mortem and not the first (or the last) of its kind. I expected to enjoy some of the stories, but I ended up loving this book. Vonnegut is the master of short stories, and of all the collections of his I've read, I think this one shows that the best. I loved it so much that I have since gifted copies to others, something I don't usually do with Vonnegut. If you think you'd like this book, chances are you'll love it.

Look at the Birdie well worth a look
As one would expect, these are brilliant stories crisply told, obviously earlier works well polished. Vonnegut had an eye for character and an ear for dialogue, and a wonderful, often whimsical sense of setting and story line. What is missing in almost all of these stories is that oddity, or suspension of belief required in satirical -- or any -- science fiction. Missing but not missed. These stories sparkle with humor and delicately recreated observation of various aspects of human nature. they adhere to the concept that what is truly interesting is what people think and do. They are delicious from start to finish, and make us hope there are more byrued treasures in Vonnegut's ouvre wairing to be uncovered!

Not overly intellectual
Funny and short stories are good for filling the gaps

Unexpected Surprise!
What a fantastic, enjoyable collection. It is just as good as "Welcome to the Monkey House." A must have for any Vonnegut, or short story, fan.
