Better after the first chapter
Yes, this game is filled with sexual references and innuendos. With the exception of the "grandma dominatrix" (umm... gross) the sexual aspects of the game didn't offend me. I'd rather see more sexual material in adventure games and less violence, so I credit the game for this. There's no nudity or sex in the game, just references. The main problem with this aspect of the game is that it tries to use this to be funny, but it tries too hard too often, and fails. It's essentially juvenile humor. In this sense I think that the Teen rating is appropriate in that only teens could enjoy this type of humor. The funniest parts of this game for me didn't have or need any sexual references. If you can overlook the occasional juvenile humor and make it through the puzzles of chapter one, then the game becomes more enjoyable. It's lighthearted and pretty fun. I felt a bit of a connection with the lead characters by the end. There is a teenage romance that starts in the middle of the game which takes front stage and is typical of what you might see on the Disney Channel. I thought it was a pretty neat puzzle to make Melvin say just the right things on their first date to make her want to go out with him again. It takes awhile to figure out how to play the game well and how to go about solving the puzzles. This is another reason why the game was more enjoyable for me after chapter one. At the beginning there are so many possible things to do, yet you can't do most of them right away. I learned to concentrate on only one task at a time and to listen carefully for what I'm supposed to be doing at any given time. Alternatively, Fiona's journal tells you exactly which tasks you're supposed to be working on.There isn't much magic in the game (i.e. the main character never casts any spells). It's really more of a typical adventure game in this regard despite the game's title.I gave it a fun factor of only four stars because there is a little too much walking around and talking to the same characters over and over. This is made a little worse because it takes several seconds to move from one room to another. Plus, clicking the mouse to skip talking was not reliable and became a little annoying. Also, this is one of those game that doesn't use computer memory very well. I have 1 GB of memory yet the game used all of that plus my swap file. Each time the game slowed, I knew that it was time to restart it to reclaim all the memory. I probably restarted it every hour or two.The first time I tried to play the game I received an error message about "the requested runtime tried to terminate in an unusual way". Fortunately this never happened again and I successfully played it twice. Most of the puzzles are straightforward. There is no need for a walkthrough because the game has a built-in hint system which was nice. In addition you can hold the H key to show all the hotspots so there is no pixel hunting. Finally, here are some things I discovered during the game that I'm not sure are explained in the manual:* in the Settings menu, you have to scroll to see all the options* double clicking an exit will exit the room immediately without needing to wait for Melvin to walk to the exit* the H key shows hotspots but you have to hold it, you can't just type it* you can scroll the rows of inventory with the mouse wheel

Highly Entertaining, Lighthearted Game
First of all, this game is appropriately given a Teen rating for language and sexual references. I feel that a couple of the reviewers were a bit harsh in how they described the game's content, as you will regularly find far worse content than what's in this game during prime time TV viewing or in most films rated PG or higher. Do I recommend it for anyone under 13? Of course not. However, it is far from the vulgar and vile descriptions that two other reviewers have given it.I agree that the first chapter is a bit tedious, but once you get the hang of running around and talking to everyone and examining all there is to see, the game evolves into lighthearted fun. I especially enjoyed walking into the Town Hall at night and observing the interactions between Adamus and Valerius. Those two cracked me up--I loved them! I found Hocus' personality at night to be a lot of fun, but I only wish they had written in more interaction with him. There were many other fun ways to interact with the characters, including one that could get you repeatedly thrown in the dungeon (which I did for fun a few times, too). Feel free to play around with the dialogues between Melvin and the other characters, and see what kind of responses you might get. However, there are a couple of dialogues that require saving your place before starting, as saying the wrong thing when trying to accomplish a task just might leave you SOL.I found the game ran quite smoothly, except one time near the very end in which it froze on me. Fortunately, the autosave feature saved me from having to repeat the several steps and dialogues that led up to that spot. The graphics were quite decent and the characters moved about pretty well. Most of the voice acting is done well, and I didn't ever get the impression that I was listening to someone read a script in a sound booth. The story was charming, and I loved the differences between the characters' behaviors in daytime and at night. Yes, the dominatrix granny is a bit odd, and even my husband found her a bit disturbing, but it's done in light humor and does not include any graphic nudity. In fact, much of the game is presented in such a subtle way, that a lot of the content that earned the "Teen" rating would go over the heads of more innocent observers. That I can recall, there is never any blatant sexuality...aside from the fact that granny has a few "accessories" (handcuffs and the like) on her bed and keeps offering to give Melvin a massage. Mature players know what she's referring to...less mature players might have no clue. Also, as you progress through the chapters, you begin to learn a cause and effect relationship: solving one issue or dispute in the town often generates new problems for soneone else in the town. Melvin begins to understand how everyone and everything are somehow linked together, which presents a useful message for those who care to observe it.Nevertheless, if you're a parent of a young teen and are concerned about keeping your child's mind as innocent as you can for as long as you can (and if they're in public schools, this isn't going to teach them anything they didn't learn prior to Junior High), then don't buy it. If you're an adult who's into fantasy, light and tawdry humor, and great adventure gaming, this one's a winner.

Cute & Interesting
This game can only be described as really adorable. At first, i thought i was going to be way to old to enjoy it, and yes, as this game is intended for teens, it has a few raunchy bits, but it's done in a lighthearted enough way that unlike allot of teen-oriented games, it only lacks in the usual gore, violence and deeply disturbing content. The graphics are well done, the scenery is lovely and it takes the player to a relatively serene fantasy environment that by night is cursed to a 'dark side' of everyone's nature. i thought it was very entertaining, fun and challenging enough for adults to play.

A Great Fantasy Game!
This is a fantastic game!I give it five stars! =) The graphics are excellent and the voice acting are awesome. Though this game would be best played for someone who likes fantasy games (elves, witches, fairies and lots of magic).

Simplistic Enough for Kids, but Adult Content
I agree with the previous reviewer. There was content in this game that I thought was way over the line for anyone, let alone children or early teens. And the odd thing is that the challenges were so simplistic that this is the very audience they apparently are targeting. Do yourself a favor and avoid this game.
