It needs a lot of work to make it work well (flatten the base, sharpen the edge, etc), but once done it works really well. For the price and the time to make it good, it's worth it. If you expect it to be like a $200 plane out of the box, than look elsewhere.

We had a very old small planer that was hard to use. This new one is sturdy and works so well. It is a convenient size and is comfortable to hold with the grip ball and handle. Have used it a lot already on our DIY project of finishing out the inside of our barndominium. It is comfortable to use and works well shaving studs level, whether taking off a little bit or even up to 1/2" in one spot. The adjustment wheels are a little sloppy loose and it was a bit difficult to get the blade adjusted at first but once set up it works great!UPDATE: Though I am still very pleased with this planer, I wanted to update my review to let you know that currently the replacement blade for this item is not available on Amazon, which is very surprising to me for an Amazon Basics product (https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-1-12-134-Replacement-Cutter-12-404/dp/B07MFBVZJ6).

Provata subito appena arrivata a casa su un pezzo di legno di abete di Douglas. Il risultato è andato oltre le aspettative : trucioli da 5 centesimi perfetti e senza sforzo . Più tardi userò la pietra per affilare ancora di più la lama. Il ferro della lama è ottima e la struttura della pialla e' molto robusta .Direi soldi spesi bene. Leggo recensioni negative, ma la pialla è uno strumento da saper usare e bisogna averne cura affilando la lama spesso. La lama si regola con due viti laterali.

As long as you read how to properly setup a plane, you will find that it works very well for the intended purpose. The blade is sharp, the product is sturdy and well made. It made it very easy to take the edges off the doors in the house due to the fitter we paid not fitting them correctly and not being able to close.

Sehr gut und stoßfest verpackt, Verarbeitung scheint recht gut zu sein, keine scharfen Kanten oder Grate. Bin von der Qualität überrascht worden.
