Based on the design of a traditional plastc "jerry can" the Desert Patrol is a rugged short term water storage vessel. It comes with a standard 3-piece spout system for accurate bulk pouring. The angled handle is designed for single or two handed gripping for easier lifting and pouring.

Thin, cheap, sharp, (insert huge sigh of disappointment here)
I bought this green one and two of the blue ones from Igloo. I wanted one that was a different color. There is a night and day difference between them. This is thin cheap plastic and it has sharp edges where the plastic is moulded together. I didn’t even attempt to put water it. It’s going straight back. The blue ones I bought were thicker, smooth, and also have an additional side handle to help with pouring.Extremely disappointed.

Leaks if you lay it sideways
I've only had it for one day, but it seems to be sturdy enough. It is not made to be turned on its side. The gasket is very thin, and water leaks through the main hole. The small vent hole also does not seal, which I can tell because the water pours well even with the vent closed. So keep this upright and it should be fine. But I am disappointed, because I expected this to be truly waterproof.

They significantly downgraded the air vent! Here's the fix you'll need to do!
I bought two of these 4 years ago to carry extra water in my RV. They (remain) sturdy and impart no flavor to drinking water. I went to buy one more this month and assumed it would be similar in design. It's not. In the new product photo they cleverly angle the bottle so you can't see the vent cap. On this newer bottle, it's a tiny little plastic plug jammed in a hole. That will get dropped and lost very easily. The original bottle had a rugged screw cap with a tether around the threaded air vent. (See https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00336SBUE/)Now I am going to have to take my precious time to install a Mr. Yellow Cap to vent it properly without losing the plug (or leaking). Find it on eBay: ebay-dot-com/str/mryellowcap -- and click on any product offering to see very detailed & helpful installation instructions.I'm not happy about this! I just hope this bottle holds up as well as my older ones. From reading other reviews on this model, I'm having my doubts...

Useful!
Bought this for my camper van kitchenette. One for my fresh water and another for my gray water. So far so good. Feels pretty sturdy, no complaints... yet.Not sure what they mean about “flavor” but the smell isn’t overpowering and I love the color. Like it was made for our purposes. They also have a light blue which is super cute.I got this a “good” price, I’d say. We bought a couple of these for backup water before this whole pandemic for about $12. Should have bought two more because all throughout late February/March, it was either out of stock or super high price. Waited till late March and was able to buy this for $17/pc. Not too bad.I highly recommend! Especially for camping/emergency pandemics.

great container, spout needs re-design.
container itself is great, and good value, but the spout is terrible:- needs to not have seperate sealing disk; this gets lost.- spout needs a bend half way along, to prevent sudden splash forward and water shooting out as you tilt the container fwd. I know this as a have an identical Blitz container sat next to it, same in every way apart from a spout with this bend, which pours perfectly and controlled. and there is a much cleverer cap design that is less easily lost.

Good for water storage, not good for functionality and quick access
We purchased this to replace our old soft-shell water containers (which constantly leaked/punctured). The plastic smell/taste is standard with these products - so we filled it up with baking soda and water before we used it. It did a pretty good job of removing any plastic smell/taste - but there was still an aftertaste in the water for weeks after we had been using it. I'm sure eventually it will go away (like most do) but it would be nice to not have to deal with it.My major gripe with this product is it's ease of use. There isn't a handle on the bottom side of the container so it's very difficult to lift with two hands and pour water out of it unless it is sitting on a table and you can simply tilt it forward. This proves especially true when its full with 5 gallons of water. My wife could barely use it - so this definitely isn't for everyone.Overall - good for water storage, but not good for everyday use needing to fill up water bottles and cooking pots.

Looks like the old GI gas can
I bought three and haven't used them yet, but did test to be sure they hold water. A negative is all 2 seals leaked right out of the box. I noticed that they can be positioned them on the pour spout to not leak, but in the real world a seal should be thicker and work better than these do. The jugs seem well made. I like the old green color and the look.

It's NOT a Jerry Can.
Don't treat it as a Jerry can. Treat it as a Nice Durable water container for Camping. It will last more than 1 season, even in direct sunlight. UV isn't a problem, like the AquaTainer. <-- Those rarely lasts more than 1 summer! These do! The one downfall is the tiny air plug. It just "sticks" in, it is not secured. If you drop a 40 lb pack on it, it WILL pop out and there goes water! So don't treat it as a Jerry can!

Looks great at the watering hole
In the past, I'd roll up to the local beach in my lifted truck, windows down, Old Town Road blasting on the stereo. I'd drop the tailgate, and then immediately get laughed at by all the ladies - I had a case of bottled water. Like any civilized human, they hated Nestle - and don't get me wrong, I do too. I just hadn't come across a better water containment vessel, until now. Now when I drop the tailgate, I get swarmed. Yeah, that's a water jug that looks like a gas can. You wanna chug right from the nozzle? Hell yeah, stay hydrated. It's very rigid, and straps into the box of my truck real well. It's easy to carry, thanks to the handle, and since I lift heavy weights, pouring it when full is no problem.

Way too expensive...
I found the same 6 Gallon containers at Canadian Tire for about $16, so shop around. The container itself is okay. I would give it five stars if the design was better.

Good product. Strong and sturdy. A little bit too tall.
Good product. Strong and sturdy. The only problem for me, but maybe not for everybody, it is too tall and then not really stable when you want to carry it as I did on a hitch cargo. It would have been better wider an less tall. Anyway I put it horizontal and it worked just fine. I carried it during 9000 km and 16 days full without any issues. I recommend it.

Leaks a bit
They’re built well but the problem with the screw cap it leaks a little bit which is not good especially when you’re carrying fuel. And even when you’re trying to fill up your vehicle if that’s what you use it for you’ll find that it leaks a bit
