Q: What are the inches that each size fits?

Buying size bigger than you need. Example. If you are medium purchase large. Ect Ect.

Q: What is the dimension (height) in the front and back? I am small so it matters.

The back is nine inches. The front is tapered and is about two to five inches. I am very tiny and my belt is a size small. It works fine for me.

Q: I'm looking for something to prevent chafing from the bottom of my backpack during day hikes. Will this stay put during long walks, bending, etc?

The belt was design for all day use, its nylon spandex material makes it breathable and flexible while given you the support. It should stay in place if you use the straps that come with it. As far as hiking goes I know this belt was design for the warehouse worker in mind and not long duration walks.
