This little arcade cabinet replica is amazing. This company really took the time to nail all the little details of the original stand up game cabinet. It plays the original arcade sounds & ROM from the original machine. These are limited editions and will sell out.

I've been a fan of New Wave Toys for a while now, so when the 1942 replicade came out, I didn't hesitate to purchase it. The detail on the game is fantastic as always and will please any arcade collector. If you can get it on sale, all the much better!

The media could not be loaded. I'm a little late to the party on hearing about these New Wave Replicades but I was really excited to get my first one!I took it out of the box and... WOW! The details are just AMAZING! And the quality is incredible, and so realistic to the original machine. But as I pick it up to look around at the details, I hear something rolling around inside the cabinet. It sounds like a loose screw or nut maybe. But I powered it up and the machine seems to work ok for now, and its a ton of fun to play!But as a collector I just couldn't get past the rattling, so I ordered a replacement.It arrived and I held it in my hand and I was really happy not too hear any rattle :) But then... As I'm looking around the cabinet, I notice there are flaws on almost all sides of it. A scratch on the front and the back, the 2 side decals are of slightly different colors. And there's also scratches on the control deck decal as well as 2 pointy lumps under it. like something was under it when the decal was laid onto it.So which do I prefer... One that looks perfect but sounds like it has a marble rolling around inside? Or the one WITHOUT the rattle, but looks like it was put together at 4:59 on a Friday?I guess I'll take the one with the rattle. I hope whatever it is rattling around inside, isn't too important??With the Amazing detail and craftmanship that goes into these units, and the cost of them... I would expect a little better quality control. I will give New Wave another try with a future product because they have such a cool catalog, but I really hope for a smoother experience next time.

Fabulous. Looks great alongside my other scale arcade games. Now I was it was 1/4 scale to match my Numskull games.

I bought this one ONLY because of the cabinet design and I ended up loving both versions of the game that come on it!

This review is about the product itself, not the two games running on it. I'll just mention that 1942 isn't a favorite of mine, but 1943 is one of my most loved classic shoot-em-up games, and it runs very nicely on here.Almost everything about this reproduction is amazing. The materials are top-quality, the battery lasts a long time, the screen is bright and colorful, everything looks like it did originally (except smaller). The menu is easy to access and navigate. The speakers are in the back of the unit, which is odd, but it still sounds fine. The light-up marquee looks great.The only real problem with it--and this is a big problem, if you want to actually play it--is that the controls are terrible. The joystick is not gated or microswitched, so it feels mushy and inaccurate. This absolutely makes the game more difficult to play, but the buttons are even worse. They're small, they travel far, and they're not microswitched either, so they're not comfortable to press. Recall that both of these games require you to constantly mash the fire button, and you know you've got a problem.It is worth mentioning that there's a bonus USB joystick included in the box. It can be connected to the cabinet via a USB port in the back. You can also connect it to a computer and use it there. And...it's AMAZING! The lever--which has a bat-top shape more reminiscent of American arcade cabinets than the ball-top joystick on the cabinet itself--is fully gated and microswitched. The buttons are larger, more comfortable to press, and are also microswitched. It fixes every issue with the built-in controls. So just plug it in and go, right? Wrong! Inexplicably, it only works for player 2; you cannot start or play the game with the USB stick as player 1. EDIT 8/26/2022: There is actually a function on the menu to switch player 1 and 2's controls; using this function, you can play a 1-player game with the USB stick. It is still a bummer that I have to plug something in to play the game well, though.I know it would not have been as accurate of a to-scale reproduction, but I wish the controls from the USB joystick were built into the cabinet instead. It would have been so much easier and more satisfying to actually play.This was my second (and probably final) Replicade purchase. I wish that they played as well as they looked.
