Barbie Voice Changing Rockstar Boombox

My 4yo daughter got this for her birthday. Now the 3 girls in the houses right next to ours all want one and will be getting them for their birthdays as well. Lots of fun, and durable. The adults like using it too!One thing to be aware of is that the kids are going to want to learn the words to the pre-loaded songs so they can sing along, so you may want to get full copies of the songs for them to listen to. The songs are:"Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat - Bubbly"Shine" from Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses - Barbie and the Diamond Castle"Hope Has Wings" from Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus - Hope Has Wings"Barbie Girl" (the Mattel version with kid-friendly lyrics) - Convert the YouTube video called "The Barbie® Official Music Video 2009" into an MP3. My daughter loves this song, by the way!Update, 6 months later: It's still going strong and like new even with lots of use.Update, 4 years later: She and two friends played with this for about 2 hours.P.S. Not sure why the negative reviewers had problems with it, but you definitely need to read the directions before using it. It explains how to prevent feedback and make everything work correctly. But maybe the manufacturing of it is hit-or-miss, and if so, I guess we got a good one unlike the people whose unit didn't hold up for long. Something to be aware of, and hold onto the receipt for returns/exchanges if needed.

My 4 year old daughter received this for Christmas yesterday. She had a lot of fun playing with it. The voice changer is kind of funny. There's a cord in the back you can use to plug into an MP3 player for additional music or you can use the preloaded songs already on the device. The only downside I saw is that you have to turn the microphone volume way down low if you want to listen to the music louder and if you want the microphone volume higher you have to turn the music way down low. It's one of those "you get what you pay for" children's toys. Fun, will get a lot of use, but not the most high quality toy either.

I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old for Christmas and I was most excited about this, yet it was the most upsetting. When we opened it you could hear a lot of static, so I changed the batteries. That seemed to help but you can still hear some static. One of the buttons don't work properly either. The microphone cord is only about a foot and a half (if that) long, so your child may get frustrated when the radio keeps falling off the table when she's trying to sing. I will look for a better one for her birthday.

Bought this for my 5 yr old granddaughter and the microphone for her 3 yr old sister. We spent Christmas morning listening to them give us a concert. It is perfect. They don't know all the words to the songs included, but the made up ones were the best.

I've been an electrical engineer for over 20 years and I have never seen a consumer product more poorly designed in my career. And I've bought a lemon or two! It's not the reliability, or that knobs fall off. It simply doesn't work right out of the box -- period. Do yourself a favor -- unlike me -- listen to the reviewers who say the microphone doesn't work. No matter what you do with the fader knob (which balances the volume between the sound track and the MIC) you can't hear your voice unless you turn the button almost completely to the MIC position -- meaning you can't hear the music. Even then you have to put it on echo or high pitch so that you can faintly make out the MIC sound over your non-amplified voice. Also if you don't put your mouth directly over and in contact with the tiny hole in the center of the MIC -- nothing! Pretty nasty when you consider how easily pre-schoolers spread germs. Even then the sound cuts in and out. It's intermittent. Also for my three year old daughter, it's not practical that you have to hold down the MIC button to sing. (You can't just put the MIC in an "On" position). Didn't get to try out the MP3 feature which is what hooked me along with the echo and high/low pitch voice features. Also the MIC cord is way too short, and this thing guzzles batteries! I'm a very forgiving person when it comes to toy quality. I read the reviews but thought, ahh, those people must be expecting a real Karaoke audio system or something. But no -- the reviews are spot on. I'm talking you'll spend the first 30 minutes just playing with the buttons in utter disbelief that this thing could actually function so poorly. Slowly it hits you: They were right. It doesn't work. My first review ever in over 10 years of using Amazon. That's how easy going I am. but this product crosses the line and should be pulled from the shelves. Shame on you Mattel.

Looks cute, but the buttons are hard to use, especially volume button, because they are way to small. Not good for anyone, The thing already broke after a few months. Disappointed! Wouldn't recommend for kids that drop things a lot and are hard on their toys.

I got this for my 3 year old after a plastic piano with mic purchase that was broken when we got it. She loves this thing. It's lightweight, durable and even my 11 year old likes to play with it. The voice changing is the most fun part and it seems to work great even with the extra spit that a toddler generates when sticking the mic all the way up to their lips while they shout!

Fun voice changing boombox, we got for our daughter who turned 3. Both her and her little brother (18 mos.) love this entertaining and fun toy. Two separate volume knobs, one for music and one for the mic, 3 voice changing buttons, and a record button as well make this toy an engaging experience for child and adult alike. MP3 player can be hooked up in the back, and even includes a slot to hold your MP3 device. We couldn't be happier with this product, would definitely recommend to all
