Plantation KHEATMAT Ferry Morse Heat Mat, Size 1, Black

I searched for heat mats for my African violets, since we keep our house on the cool side and the violets suffered. I thought I needed a fancy mat with a thermostat, but then I found this one, read the reviews, and rolled the dice. It seemed warm to the touch at first, but I keep my violets in 10“ x 20“ nursery trays, and I doubled up on them. So, the bottom layer is the mat, the next layer is an empty tray, and the third layer is the tray with the plants in it. It hovers around 78° and is exactly what my shrubs need. I’ve only used it a couple weeks, so fingers crossed.

Great for starting new seeds because the heat helps with germination. This is the second one so more seeds could be started at the same time this year. There is no temperature control and stays at the pre-set temperature. It could be improved if there was an on/off switch so you wouldn’t have to unplug it to shut it off. Using a power strip can do the same thing.

I have had the heat mat about about 7 weeks now. There is no temperature control but my external temperature monitor say it stays in the upper 70s to low 80 degrees Fahrenheit, . I keep the heated mat in a plant cabinet for my nursery plants and I really enjoying having it. Something to keep in mind with the dimensions, the outer edges are not as warm as the central parts of the mat.

Works great, perfect size for a “tray of seeds” planted in the little plastic container with individual “pots” and the cover.

Bought this heating mat for our small greenhouse. It was exactly what we were expecting and works wonderfully. This could not have been a better transaction!

Seems to be working well. All seeds are germinating just fine.
