Looks like it would do the job
Recommended by my son’s athletic director to help stabilize his ankle during recovery from a high-ankle sprain. Would have loved to try this, but it arrived obviously used and returned by someone else, then resold (see photos). The item looks like it would be a strong one to hold his ankle steady, only allowing the foot to pivot up and down, not back and forth. Returned item to Amazon, and will likely try to find a new version locally instead of trying to buy online again.

Very good lateral support
This brace provides very good lateral support and is surprisingly comfortable. I removed the white foam on the bottom as recommended and put the brace under the shoe insole. There was a little discomfort on the outside of my foot at the bottom where the hard plastic strut hits it, but I put a small piece of the white foam between it and my foot which worked out. The brace is so comfortable I decided to get another one and wear both at the same time for preventive reasons. After a while you forget you are wearing them. I use for basketball.

I bought item to aid me in the process of recovering from a broken foot not a vine or bought review
I bought this item to aid me in the process of recovering from a broken foot not a vine or free to try or bought review. It has been very supportive specially during my recovery. I will say that it does take time to get use to it. The inner portion diggs in to your arch it hurts like crazy you think you get used to it, but you do forget about it after you start walking and see the support it gives you with each step you take. Like I stated it still hurts every once in a while when I Slip-In to it then I forget about the mild discomfort.Suggestion to manufacture or you future purchaser--padding for the inner lining to stick on. I ended up modifying mine with shoe dapping it helped.Started with a five star lost a star due to awkward foot cut-out and the need to modify with padding to minimize the inner lining from digging in to my foot. Yes I would and will recommend this item to some that needs maximum support specially after a broken foot.

Good product... but definitely USED
My husband is the Head boys basketball Coach at our local high school and needed this for one of his players. It was delivered quickly and I sent it to practice with him still in the box. He said that when he opened it, you could tell that it was used because the white pad that goes under the foot had been removed and put back, making it not stick to the brace very well, and also it had fuzz and hairs all over it. If I would have opened it I would have taken pictures and sent it back, but he still had the player use it because he needed it. That is why I gave 2 stars. When I pay for something new, I expect it to be new. We have used Active Ankles before and tell our kids to get them (we have both coached for 10+ years). If it would have been new, I would have given a 5 star review, I believe in this product, just disappointed that it was used and kind of gross.
