Works great in all weather conditions
Can't wait to try this winter backpacking. Keeps water in your bladder at a steady temperature. Winter and summer use in your backpack with in reason. I wouldn't expect this to keep my water freezing cold after hrs of hiking with the sun beating down on your dark colored backpack. Or the opposite I don't expect my water or the water in my hose not to freeze if I'm in a blizzard or constant freezing temperatures. If used correctly it will work as intended.I recommend treating this as you should treat all of your gear, with respect. After setting up camp put it in your shelter away from the elements. Common sense should be applied with your water. After all water is an essential. So yes this does work as intended and it works great. This will keep your water from freezing longer at lower temperatures. It will also keep your water cooler longer in warmer temperatures. That said you will need a bladder it doesn't come with one and pick up a quick connect Osprey kit if you rather use it that way. It is a very long hose that you can connect in two ways all the way to the bladder it self no quick connect. Meaning that you have to take out the entire system out of your backpack, and hose feed line. Save yourself the trouble and get the quick connect and use it like you normally would. Quick disconnect it the way to go.Tip: if your having trouble getting the hose all the way on to the connection just bring some water to a boil or just before boiling and put the end of the hose in it for about 15-20 second's so that is malleable enough to put the connector on, then just let it cool off and your done you will have a tight fit.

Kept my fluids… fluid
Does what is expected, used in Scottish winter conditions, however it would be better if it came with its own reservoir adaptor and bite valve so you don’t have to take apart your existing equipment, I found the fitting that fits the reservoir very difficult to push fully into the supplied insulated tube.

Keeps my second blaster cool in scorching weather
I hike in sometimes brutal heat. When going long distance I need a lot of water and I prefer to not drink boiling water or eat melted snacks. I fill my second blaster with ice water, drop it in and add a few protein bars so I can stay hydrated and energized in blazing hot weather.

Buyer beware...random parts missing?
You may or may not get the insulation piece for your bite valve, I did not, as you can see that it is missing from my picture which is fresh out of it's wrapper. I checked inside the insulation sleeve, it is not in there. This is the very first time that Osprey has left me a bit disappointed, although I'm not sure if this is an Osprey quality control issue or an Amazon issue.Although it has left me being able to use this during spring-summer or summer-autumn months to keep my hydration pack cool, it leaves me in doubt about using it in the winter because the bite valve may freeze up. So it is no longer '4 Season' at all, it's 2-3 season at best.Another issue is that, by design, you can no longer use the magnetic hose clips that come with your Osprey hydration bladders. I really wish that they had thought of this problem and included a larger size of magnetic clip that fits over the insulated pipe, so you don't have to cut chunks of the insulation off if you want this highly-useful feature back. You would not expect any of this from such a well-known company as Osprey, all of it has me rethinking against buying anything from Osprey on Amazon, perhaps directly from the manufacturer themselves would be more reliable.
