Solid choice for vehicles with older headunits.
I got this for $79 CND and at that price I can't recommend this thing enough. I installed it in my work truck in a few minutes and I love it. It's quick to turn on and fairly snappy when in use. The way I have mounted it is rock solid. It also came with some cable ties that I used to clean up the wiring a bit. Overall I'd say if you don't want to mess around with a permanent headunit grab this thing!

Brings Apple CarPlay to my old car — works very well!
This does exactly what it says, and I recommend it.I have a 2011 Subaru Legacy with a factory nav system and a Harmon Karman sound system. To replace it with an updated head unit is expensive and I lose functions (like steering wheel controls and backup camera).Purchased this and have had it for a few weeks including a 20 hour road trip. I love it. It’s just what I was hoping for. I can connect sound directly from my phone into the car’s sound system and control it via CarPlay from the Intellidash.Big plus: keeps my eyes on the road and enables me to be safer, much less squinting at the phone and selecting stuff from small icons while driving.Downsides: the internal speaker quality is terrible, and that seems to be the default for the unit (I have to unplug the phone and replug it to play through the car’s speakers), and also for phone calls (which requires fiddling on the phone itself), rather than the car’s Bluetooth phone. Also, there’s no auto-dimming feature for driving at night, and that requires some work to dim the display so it doesn’t blind me at night.I opted to use the car’s CD slot to mount the device and keep it a bit out of sight and closer to my hands.Definitely recommend for what it is.UPDATE: Several months and many road trips later, I highly recommend it. This is the best money I’ve spent in a long time for entertainment and safety. I also figured out that if I leave the aux out of the Intellidash cable plugged into the aux in if my radio, I don’t need to plug in my phone to hear the sound through the car’s stereo. And because it’s wireless, I don’t even need to remove the phone from my pocket. I guess it’s not possible for the Intellidash instruction manual to detail what to do for every vehicle, but general guidance would have been helpful for how to set it up. The moral of the story: it’s worth it, but you’ll need to play around to find the ideal setup for your vehicle.

Not worth the price.
It's a nice little display with good enough touch screen capability but definitely not worth $400.. The setup is quite wobbly, the screen shakes too much and the sound quality is just awful. It doesn't connect to car's own Bluetooth for sound or even phone calls. The phone calls can only be taken on its hideous speakers or your own phone, even though the car detects the calls but no connectivity to Bluetooth for sound.I have a rental car fleet and tried it on, definitely not a good experience for customers. Good for if you have a 1990 Toyota that has nothing in it.

Overall, this is a great product
I got this for my 2015 Honda Pilot which does not have CarPlay and there is really no way to add it given that the display is integrated into the AC controls. This solution is really great. Almost perfect. The one thing that I wish it had was automatic dimming based on ambient lighting. It has a button that you can click on the main menu that switches from day to night, but it is not super convenient (it is tiny) and you cannot customize the brightness of the night mode vs the day mode. Even a small physical brightness dimmer would be a HUGE improvement. But otherwise the device is great. The screen has good colors and the resolution is better than my 7" CarPlay system in my newer Hyundai. It does what it is supposed to do - adds CarPlay to my old car and it has really freshened up the experience of driving it. I can hold down the home button on the screen to engage Siri and ask for songs or directions. on my 2015 Pilot I use a CD mount to hold this thing up and it puts it in the perfect spot to reach and see it. I did not use the arm that comes with it.I am using it with an AUX connection to my car stereo and the audio quality is better than when my phone was connected to bluetooth. I still connect my phone to bluetooth with the car and the phone calls come in through the factory system so I use the factory microphone and the steering wheel buttons to answer or end calls. CarPlay also shows the call details on the screen and you can click there to answer or end calls. The price is a little high but frankly this little device will probably end up making me keep my old car longer. It is a great upgrade.

Safety hazard
I have an old minivan. It has a basic radio but it does have Sirius which I like. I thought that this would be nifty. It won’t stay connected to the windshield or dash. The mounting bracket is not fit for purpose. A hands free device is not if you have to hold it to ensure that it won’t fly around the cab of the car. It is getting returned.
